Many people use Solaris, which is in the same family as UNIX.

I myself use FreeBSD. Anyone who wants to know why I use it is more than welcome to read the documentation at http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/books/handbook/book.html.

Wow your a fucking genius. No one knew that Solaris, Aix, Linux, and BSD were in the Unix family.

I was saying who actually uses the one and only Unix, not OS's based on it.

    Edit: I forgot Mac too

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ple.en.svg.png I don't see Linux being part of the family tree of UNIX.

I hate to be an asshole, but you don't know anything about anything.

I hate to be an asshole as well, but Linux isn't descended from UNIX at all (you should see that there is no physical line connected to Linux and other OS' which are descended from UNIX, therefore it cannot be included in the "UNIX family". It can only be called "UNIX-like" (you know, having many of the same qualities as UNIX, but not having any of the original UNIX code). Perhaps you don't frequent many IRC channels where many Solaris and BSD users call Linux a "UNIX knockoff".
