For all the simple minded Jackasses who sign up to this forum and post a question about making "simple bombs" get flamed and then never come back, this should save you all the trouble of pissing everybody off

Black Powder (BP)
75 parts potassium nitrate (KNO3)
15 parts wood charcoal
10 parts Sulfur

1- deposit charcoal and sulfur into your ball mill and run it for a couple hours (ghetto ball mill can be made with a power drill, bench vice, plastic jar, bolt, nut and lead fishing sinkers. if you cant work out how that all goes together you shouldn't be making explosives) lead media must be used as it will not spark.

2- open your mill, separate the powder mixture into a container and wash ball mill components

3- mill your potassium nitrate

4- mix the charcoal/sulfur mix with the potassium nitrate. then lightly wet the powder mixture and return to the ball mill, run it for another few hours (4-5). check the powder at regular intervals tomake sure it has not dried out, if so lightly wet and continue process.

5- remove powder mixture and let dry on newspaper or paper towels. DO NOT try and speed up the process with a hairdryer or try and put it in the oven.

Smoke Bomb
5 parts potassium nitrate
5 parts granulated sugar

Melt the components together over low heat. When melted transfer to a casing and allow to set (insert fuse at this time also)

Flash Powder (FP)
8 parts potassium perchlorate
2 parts fine aluminium powder

simply mix the powders together in a static free container using extreme caution. the powder is quite sensitive to heat, friction and shock.

Acetone Peroxide (AP)
50 parts Acetone
30 parts 30% conc Hydrogen Peroxide
3 parts concentrated Sulfuric Acid (>70%)

1- in a glass vessel mix the Acetone and Hydrogen Peroxide then place vessel into an ice bath till temp reaches 5 degrees celsius

2- DROP BY DROP add the Sulfuric Acid to the Acetone and Hydrogen Peroxide mixture. make sure to keep below 5 degrees, this is because of the equilibrium reaction that takes place.

3- move mixture to a coolroom or refridegerator and leave over night.

4- a layer of crystals should have formed on top after 12 or so hours. filter the crystals out through filter paper or a coffee filter and sit in a cool dark place to dry

5- if intending to store do so submerged in distilled water in a container that DOES NOT have a threaded lid. AP should be stored in this manner in a ref*****rator.

Thermite
70 parts Iron Oxide
30 Parts fine aluminium powder

simply mix the two powders together. thermite is a very stable compound and takes alot of heat to ignite. reliable ignition includes Magnesium ribbon even sparklers.

Nitrocellulose (Gun Cotton)
10 part Concentrated Sulfuric acid (>90%)
10 part Concentraded Nitric Acid (>65%)
1 part cellulose (pure cotton wool)
Sodium BiCarbonate
Distilled Water

1- mix the acids together VERY SLOWLY in a clean glass vessel

2- submerge cotton in the acid solution and leave to nitrate for about 10 minutes.

3- decant the acid solution and retain the acid for later use or dispose of in a SAFE AND CORRECT MANNER

4- wash the cotton with a sodium bicarbonate/distilled water solution to nutralise any remaining acid, then rinse with distilled water

Optional steps
5- dissovle the cotton in acetone and allow for acetone to vapourise, you will now be left with a paste that can be shaped and let dry. once dried can also be powdered.

these are a few simple ideas to entertain the masses whom are ignorant of such basic knowledge.

They already have. Stupid people ruin these threads because they don't read and then the senior members/mods have to keep answering the same questions for people that don't know how to use the search function or read the stickies.

Nice info Numerator, but I'd like to ask you a question if you don't mind. If you take a look at ghost's example of a salute on post number 2 in the casing sticky. It shows the fuse coming out of the side, and during one of my long stretches of not being able to sleep I read some info on M-80's on wikipedia and the actual M-80's also had the fuses coming out of the side. Now is there a specific reason you'd have the fuse coming out of the side or is it just out of convince?

in lehmans terms you have it on the side because if you have it through one of your caps you create a weak spot and it can turn into a fountain or just low harmlessly through the cap
