Stairway To Heaven...backwards

People have talked about how one of the greatest songs is actually one giant subliminal message when you play it backwards. I am a huge fan of Led Zeppelin, so I wanted to see if Stairway to Heaven really does have satanic lyrics in it. What do you think about this? I will post my opinion on it when I hear what everyone else has to say.

Wow, you can't be serious. This thread has been up for 2 days now and its still hasn't got a reply, even though its the latest in the music forum.

Oh and turn up the volume if you decide to listen to the song, because it doesn't start out very loud to hear the words better.

Seems like a lot of work for a band to put a satanic message into a song.

On the other hand, maybe it's a good theme? The metaphor of going 'upwards' on a stairway to heaven is reversed into a similar metaphor when it's played backwards? Up towards heaven changes to down into hell?

Overall though, I'd say it's probably just coincidence.

Edit: Is that supposed to be another language or something though? I can't understand shit that he's saying.

If it IS another language, is it really a proper translation?

I don't think you're supposed to expect a perfect pronounciation of words when you play it backwards. Also Led Zeppelin was English.

I think this song is awesome because it makes sense played forward and backward, so its like two songs in one. Also if they really did this on purpose, then I applaud them for ingeniusly making a song have two opposite meanings.

I seriously want to put this song on my mp3 player, because this song just sounds so intense then gets softer near the end. And the regular Stairway is the opposite by building from a gentle intro to an intense climax. So I can listen to one version depending on my mood.

Also the lyrics provided seemed to match up to the song fairly well, but not so much as it progressed. Oh well, perhaps Zep could further refine their magnum opus to make it even better?

You know what, I think I know why so many people listen to this song so many times and request it on the radio so often, because it literally puts under some sort of spell. Oh sweet Isreal...

idk i dont hear anything at all untill i am reading lyrics with it. i think it is just one of those things you think about it and then see it. it still sounds creepy backwards tho

The song from 3:25 to 3:31 sounds really clear to me.

What's really funny is that people back then thought this song would spell the end of the world. But I honestly don't care about that, because if this song really foretold of an inevitable apocalypse, then it would happen long ago. Just like the date 6/6/06 and the upcoming year 2012, its not going to happen.

I think the lyrics are awesome too. Lots of biblical references also.

I can only understand the lyrics if I read them on the screen at the same time, so it's definitely a stretch...but it's possible I guess.

Listen to it without looking at the lyrics at all, and you hear nothing. It just sounds like Stairway to Heaven played backwards.
