Thread: Freezing yourself?

  1. #1

    Freezing yourself?

Considering that scientists are trying to improve upon the science of cyrogenic freezing, would you freeze yourself? Then many years from now you would come out of stasis and roam a completely different society with advanced technology and other promising things.

I myself would do it even though some problems need to be fixed, like how exactly people would unfreeze you without destroying tissue and such. But technology advances over time, so it shouldn't be too bad. Plus I don't want to be an old man before we finally colonise other planets or whatever.

    So what would you do?

I don't think that has anything to do with freezing yourself.

I would freeze myself. But then their always the possibility that no one will be their to unfreeze you. Anything could have happened. And its possible the enviorment/food/and even air will be drastically changed and the second you were unfrozen your primitive body wouldnt be able to survive in this evolved enviorment. But hell that would be awesome... to travel in time through preservation.

That's true. One drawback of freezing yourself is that you have to pay a lot of money to have people freeze you. If you're terminally ill or elderly but can't offord it, you are screwed

Or after countless years of war, and countless civilizations, its bound that your body be forgotten, or no-one would care to preserve you. Think about it like this: Their is no current company that has lasted for more than 500 years, so if your trying to time jump 1,000 years the company that froze you will have ceased to exist years ago. But if something of that sort was possible then imagine the different world you will have entered. Thousands of years of evolution might have passed. You might be the only one of our species left in a world no longer recognizable... epic thread by the way.

I say, this topic might actually be interesting. It would be great in discussing current technology and how it will advance in the future or how humans will look.

I would totally freeze myself. The knowledge of how things are, coupled with the experience of how things will be, would make for an amazingly cool life.

Unless, of course, everything sucks in the future.
