ap problem

Today i tried making a small amount. I had a massive temperature spike it went up to 30C idk if i should get rid of the stuff cause its gonna be sensitive. same happened with MEKP i had a bad temp spike. I guess my skill level went down since i slacked off for a few months. When i made the MEKP i added the acid and it instantly seperated into 2 layers is this normal?I finsished the synth td and well i added the MEKP to ammonia and its now amilky white with oily balls floating around in it.

the AP temperature really isn't that important, as long as you keep it below the point at which it can "run away". It gets to a point at like 75+*C that the liquid boils, but the reaction continues and the liquid keeps boiling. I remember walking into my lab once and it felt like my eyeballs exploded. The gaseous acetone and HCl everywhere was just insane.

the MEKP sounds fine though. The oily mekp should drop to the bottom, does your MEKP have a dye in it, or is it clear?

its clear has a distinct almost ammonia like smell. idk what the little floating oil balls are though. i took a drop and added it to saw dust and lit it and deflagrated with a cracling noise. i tried it again but this time i lit it them smacked it with a hammer and it went off so i thinks its all good

what is mekp and an and ap? im new to pyro techinics but ive done some minor things and im taking grade 12 college chemistry this year in school and i would like to make this stuff can anyone give me a basic run down?

AP= acetone peroxide
MEKP= methyl ethyl ketone peroxide
AN= ammonium nitrate
All are high explosive
