To sensitive to be placed in a cap for detonating AN. It would detonate if when placing in the fuse of wires. AP or HMTD are great easy primaries for AN.

but couldn't it somehow be cristalized on the wires?

It could but it usually takes about 5-10 grams of HMTD to get AN going. so some crystals of NI3 wouldn't do much of anything.
