homemade electric igniter idea. would it work?

i'm curious to know if this woud work, cause it could be helpful.

a little bit ago i stole some steel wool from my school, and i have expiramented; with 9 volts it burns and can ignite model rocket engine powder. would this plan work? my plan is to have one wire attatched to one side of a 9v battery and that end is just the wire, but on the other part of the 9v to have a wire that leads to a pushbutton switch, and from that have a wire leading to the other end of the first wire, and then wrap steel wool around the end. in theory when the button is pushed it would close the circut and ignite the steel wool which would ignite my co2 canister bomb i made.

:: = steel wool. the bs are just to fill in the battery thing cause i guess this site doesnt like excess spaces yea i obviously would have a longer wire for the button thing.

dont playa hate....if it wont work....just say so. also....if u have a more efficient or reliable way to do it tell me

Yeah, it'd work, and is a very basic b***** igniter but it's dangerous and risky.

Way better off using a constant high-amp source that won't dissipate over too long a distance, and a properly formed nichrome squib.

Constant high amp source? Wall socket, car battery.

Nichrome squib can be made from a toaster, ping-pong balls and acetone.

ill look into that....only problem is that i plan on doing this outside...in which case a wall socket is out of the question...and i dont have access to a car battery. hmm....but that sounds so fun... ill try mine and if i blow my face off or something ill use yours next time haha. well if i do anything bigger than a co2 canister bomb i'll figure out how to do it.
