Ok first off..

1)my girlfriends bday is coming up shortly and i want to make fireworks for her, i dont really wanna go out and actually buy fireworks it would be more special if i made them may seem a little sappy but yeah, im not really sure how i would propel it in the air and give it colour and ect, so if some one could post how to make fireworks that would be real handy to me.

2)this is related to thermite...
I know the mixture and ingredients and all that and all i need to know is what is the most efficient way to get the aluminium? ive tried filing but that took ages for so little results and i really dont know how else to get it without using ebay to just buy it.

if those 2 questions were answered it would mean alot to me as i have an old car i would wish to blow up with thermite but can not seem to get enough aluminium shavings\powder what not to make a decent ammount of thermite

propulsion of a rocket....thats jus applying downward thrust, just do what you see on bottle rockets..gunpowder that has one way out when it gets lit to apply downward thrust to make it go up with that connected to a blast cap. as for color..you could take the copper from electrical wires to make green...calcium will get you a nice bright yellow...if you can get your hands on strontium that will make a brilliant red..barium will be blue..potassium will burn purple..and that aluminum you got lying around will make a nice bright white. as for getting your hands on the stuff hit the chem books from highschool and college and do some separations. then hit the physics book for the ratios of weight to force required to move a specific weight into the air a certain height..then set up a proportion after weighing your firework and then average out how far so much gunpowder will send it..then from there work out on paper how uch gunpowder youll neeed to get it a safe height in the air...should work out...ive worked this out on paper and doen it before

thanks ive only got the problem i was expelled from school for a harmless smoke bomb incident... so i cant get chem books and stuff from my highschool... could i get these form like my local library? or should i just go to my old school and be like yeah i need to borrow a few books...

oh and also if i used my aluminium it would it need seperating or could i just like normally file it down into powderish form and use that? im kinda really noobish with the chem part of things only things i really can get ingredients to make is smoke bombs and thermite so im new to most other stuff so yeah sorry for seeming so noobish.

yeah, hit the library in the reference section, you should be able to find the books you ned....look for the key words of rocketry, chemistry, combustion, physics, chemistry, rocket chemistry...i think that should be the keywords that would help you find the right info
