    shotgun shell trip-wire

My friend gave me this recipe it seems like it would work what are your opinions?
Ingredients: mouse trap, shotgun shell, thumbtack, fishing line, newspaper

if you have never put a thumbtack in a primer dont try this

1.Wrap the newspaper around the shotgun shell(acts as barrel)
2.Slowly and carefully twist the thumbtack into the primer
3.Place the thumbtack so that when mousetrap goes off it hits the tack
4.Tie wire to the release on the mousetrap
    5.Run Wire
    6.Have FUN!!!!!!!

Puh a sharp object into a styphnate primer?

No thanks, I like my fingers intact. Also, without confinement the shell wouldn't do much damage at all.

Perhaps attaching the thumbtack to the mousetrap and just making sure it all lines up okay.

if you hung the whole mechanism on a door frame and ran the wire at knee level wouldnt the shell do enough damage to get the job done

It would do enough to ruin his pants and maybe give him a minor flesh wound. Seeing as you are still typing, you probably have not tried it.

"Or is it not even worth trying"

No. Not even worth modifying this idea to make it feasible.

Edit: Shotgun shells don't do jack shit unless it is confined. It won't accomplish anything.
