I am your new lord and savior, your mother and father, and your uncle; all rolled into one. I am the new hacking moderator.

For those that don't know me, I'm Ishkur (or dydx in IRC). I'm a software hacker and auto mechanic. I work with Lisp, Java, and I'm starting to actually see a use for Python these days. I have done extensive work with .NET and C#, as well as ASP and ColdFusion (I regret those days...), as well as PHP/MySQL. I maintain two or three open source projects, and I assist with a few others on occasion. I am an avid user of projecteuler.net, and I am ranked in the top 400 in the United States, and within the top 40 of all Lisp users.

My policies are a direct extension of those held by the forum administrator, if you have a problem with what goes on in the Hacking section; you have a problem with the site itself. If you have a problem with me personally... I will be very eager to hear anything you care to say.

If there is ever any question about what is or is not allowed in or on these boards, allow me to explain what I expect.

I expect the users of this website to use common sense and good judgment when posting content. This generally means that posts that have little to no value and ones made solely for the purpose of starting fights are not welcomed. If you intend to come here and start fights, I will end them. If you come here to post garbage, I will clean it up. If any problems you cause persist, I will get rid of you permanently.

Having read this, I hope to see you being responsible in the boards and not contributing to the already numerous problems we have.

Happy hacking, and good day.
Everyone is permitted...

GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE

Version 3, 29 June 2007

Copyright © 2007 Free Software Foundation, Inc. <http://fsf.org/>

Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies of this license document, but changing it is not allowed.
Preamble

The GNU General Public License is a free, copyleft license for software and other kinds of works.

The licenses for most software and other practical works are designed to take away your freedom to share and change the works. By contrast, the GNU General Public License is intended to guarantee your freedom to share and change all versions of a program--to make sure it remains free software for all its users. We, the Free Software Foundation, use the GNU General Public License for most of our software; it applies also to any other work released this way by its authors. You can apply it to your programs, too.

When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute copies of free software (and charge for them if you wish), that you receive source code or can get it if you want it, that you can change the software or use pieces of it in new free programs, and that you know you can do these things.

To protect your rights, we need to prevent others from denying you these rights or asking you to surrender the rights. Therefore, you have certain responsibilities if you distribute copies of the software, or if you modify it: responsibilities to respect the freedom of others.

For example, if you distribute copies of such a program, whether gratis or for a fee, you must pass on to the recipients the same freedoms that you received. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the source code. And you must show them these terms so they know their rights.

Developers that use the GNU GPL protect your rights with two steps: (1) assert copyright on the software, and (2) offer you this License giving you legal permission to copy, distribute and/or modify it.

For the developers' and authors' protection, the GPL clearly explains that there is no warranty for this free software. For both users' and authors' sake, the GPL requires that modified versions be marked as changed, so that their problems will not be attributed erroneously to authors of previous versions.

Some devices are designed to deny users access to install or run modified versions of the software inside them, although the manufacturer can do so. This is fundamentally incompatible with the aim of protecting users' freedom to change the software. The systematic pattern of such abuse occurs in the area of products for individuals to use, which is precisely where it is most unacceptable. Therefore, we have designed this version of the GPL to prohibit the practice for those products. If such problems arise substantially in other domains, we stand ready to extend this provision to those domains in future versions of the GPL, as needed to protect the freedom of users.

Finally, every program is threatened constantly by software patents. States should not allow patents to restrict development and use of software on general-purpose computers, but in those that do, we wish to avoid the special danger that patents applied to a free program could make it effectively proprietary. To prevent this, the GPL assures that patents cannot be used to render the program non-free.

The precise terms and conditions for copying, distribution and modification follow.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
0. Definitions.

“This License” refers to version 3 of the GNU General Public License.

“Copyright” also means copyright-like laws that apply to other kinds of works, such as semiconductor masks.

“The Program” refers to any copyrightable work licensed under this License. Each licensee is addressed as “you”. “Licensees” and “recipients” may be individuals or organizations.

To “modify” a work means to copy from or adapt all or part of the work in a fashion requiring copyright permission, other than the making of an exact copy. The resulting work is called a “modified version” of the earlier work or a work “based on” the earlier work.

A “covered work” means either the unmodified Program or a work based on the Program.

To “propagate” a work means to do anything with it that, without permission, would make you directly or secondarily liable for infringement under applicable copyright law, except executing it on a computer or modifying a private copy. Propagation includes copying, distribution (with or without modification), making available to the public, and in some countries other activities as well.

To “convey” a work means any kind of propagation that enables other parties to make or receive copies. Mere interaction with a user through a computer network, with no transfer of a copy, is not conveying.

An interactive user interface displays “Appropriate Legal Notices” to the extent that it includes a convenient and prominently visible feature that (1) displays an appropriate copyright notice, and (2) tells the user that there is no warranty for the work (except to the extent that warranties are provided), that licensees may convey the work under this License, and how to view a copy of this License. If the interface presents a list of user commands or options, such as a menu, a prominent item in the list meets this criterion.
1. Source Code.

The “source code” for a work means the preferred form of the work for making modifications to it. “Object code” means any non-source form of a work.

A “Standard Interface” means an interface that either is an official standard defined by a recognized standards body, or, in the case of interfaces specified for a particular programming language, one that is widely used among developers working in that language.

The “System Libraries” of an executable work include anything, other than the work as a whole, that (a) is included in the normal form of packaging a Major Component, but which is not part of that Major Component, and (b) serves only to enable use of the work with that Major Component, or to implement a Standard Interface for which an implementation is available to the public in source code form. A “Major Component”, in this context, means a major essential component (kernel, window system, and so on) of the specific operating system (if any) on which the executable work runs, or a compiler used to produce the work, or an object code interpreter used to run it.

The “Corresponding Source” for a work in object code form means all the source code needed to generate, install, and (for an executable work) run the object code and to modify the work, including scripts to control those activities. However, it does not include the work's System Libraries, or general-purpose tools or generally available free programs which are used unmodified in performing those activities but which are not part of the work. For example, Corresponding Source includes interface definition files associated with source files for the work, and the source code for shared libraries and dynamically linked subprograms that the work is specifically designed to require, such as by intimate data communication or control flow between those subprograms and other parts of the work.

The Corresponding Source need not include anything that users can regenerate automatically from other parts of the Corresponding Source.

The Corresponding Source for a work in source code form is that same work.
2. Basic Permissions.

All rights granted under this License are granted for the term of copyright on the Program, and are irrevocable provided the stated conditions are met. This License explicitly affirms your unlimited permission to run the unmodified Program. The output from running a covered work is covered by this License only if the output, given its content, constitutes a covered work. This License acknowledges your rights of fair use or other equivalent, as provided by copyright law.

You may make, run and propagate covered works that you do not convey, without conditions so long as your license otherwise remains in force. You may convey covered works to others for the sole purpose of having them make modifications exclusively for you, or provide you with facilities for running those works, provided that you comply with the terms of this License in conveying all material for which you do not control copyright. Those thus making or running the covered works for you must do so exclusively on your behalf, under your direction and control, on terms that prohibit them from making any copies of your copyrighted material outside their relationship with you.

Conveying under any other circumstances is permitted solely under the conditions stated below. Sublicensing is not allowed; section 10 makes it unnecessary.
3. Protecting Users' Legal Rights From Anti-Circumvention Law.

No covered work shall be deemed part of an effective technological measure under any applicable law fulfilling obligations under article 11 of the WIPO copyright treaty adopted on 20 December 1996, or similar laws prohibiting or restricting circumvention of such measures.

When you convey a covered work, you waive any legal power to forbid circumvention of technological measures to the extent such circumvention is effected by exercising rights under this License with respect to the covered work, and you disclaim any intention to limit operation or modification of the work as a means of enforcing, against the work's users, your or third parties' legal rights to forbid circumvention of technological measures.
4. Conveying Verbatim Copies.

So, for the sake of a decent argument, here's the idea:

One process spawns another process, which in turn spawns another, that one spawns another, infinitely looping that pattern. The catch is, none of those parent processes stop, they keep looping as well. So that first process keeps spitting out children, those children keep spitting out grandchildren, etc.

This is called a forkbomb. It exploits a feature of modern computer systems called Forking (the process by which one process creates another). Forking is actually really useful for application design, its just when it goes unmonitored that it might end up being an issue.

So, the code.

For the sake of all you batch loving faggots out there, there are these two gems:

save either of those as 'mygayforking.bat' and run it. Probably wont crash the system, but you'll get some funny errors.

Now on to some more, real, code.

Quote:

So in this day and age, there seems to be a misconception over what it really means to be a `hacker`. Allow me a few minutes of your time to fix this misconception... hopefully at least.

What a `hacker` is...

By its first definition back in the 1960's, a `hacker` was a person that pursued a hobby or interest with extreme vigor and learned everything they could about it, and all encompassing fields involving it. There are different types of `hackers`, but for the purposes of this, I'm going to cover `computer hackers`. These individuals live and breathe computers and software. Within the realm of `computer hackers` are people who specialize in certain areas... encryption, networking, etc. There is also a branch of `hackers` that will be discussed later. True `hackers` don't really do anything out of maliciousness, they explore and learn.

What a `hacker` is not...

The term `hacker` is often misused to describe another form of life out there; `crackers` or as I call them, assholes. These numerous individuals are what you tend to find on forums wanting to know 'how to hack [insert name of thing]'. I've seen it thousands of times on this very site. Their only intentions are destructive ones and their very existence lowers what it means to be a `hacker`.

What you can do to help `hackers`...

First and foremost, unless otherwise noted by someone far more adept with `hacking` calls you a hacker or something similar... you are not a `hacker`. Odds are in fact you are a subspecies of `crackers` known as a `script kiddy`. You can fix this though. Learn a skill, learn a programming language and master it.
Hmm.... I was bored today, a little pissed off... and feeling opportunistic. So here's what I did:

I was playing around. I had an old email address that the account expired, but i still used the email for logins and shit. I was gonna look and see if the site was still open and if i could get my account back (jfr, the site was http://30gigs.com). I go to the site, and what do i find? there is some sort of fucking BLOG on there... no email hosting.. nothing. So.. i decided that I might be able to get into some stuff on the site... seeing that WP isnt the most secure thing in the world. I do a few dns queries, and see that the DNS is a little 'leaky' if thats the term .. not a full domain transfer... but I did get a good list of shit on the servers. IPs, A rec. CNAMEs, MX recs, etc. The

In the printout of nslookup, was the host (jfr, websitewelcome.com .. ). I go and try to run nslookup on those fuckers, to no luck.. dunno whats up, but seems the main site is patched. So.. just for the sake of seeing what i would have seen if nslookup might have worked, I meandered on over to myipneighbors.com. Thats a site that lists all of the domain names associated with a certain IP address.

I was looking through the list, and found one that struck my eye: http://augustanow.com . This had been the "online magazine" for my current residence (Augusta, Ga). Seeming like something that might be interesting to get into, I started digging a little. I found what server software it was running, what content management system it was using, etc. Through some fluke in the way the site worked, most of the content was non-***** protected (aka - anyone could make a post, comment, edit menu's, etc.) .. toying around with that, I found that I could add stuff, remove stuff, basically anything the ***** could do... cept edit user accounts and get deep inside site information.

Conferring with Cuddly, I figured Id try and upload a rootshell to the site. Seeing that I actually didnt have the write access or permissions to upload shit, I edited a page.. and to my delight, I could parse pure PHP code. My first intention was to inject an awful little snippet of code that could potentially crash a viewers web browser and make the site reaaaaly slow (basically some code from my calculator, just modified to be a recurring infinite loop).

I injected the phpshell straight into a page (not the front, dont really wnat to be that obvious . And started looking around at shit. The server had safemode off, was running cURL and MySQL (which might have actually been usefull for something) .. but in the process of trying to look for a mysql config file.... i deleted everything on the site, including the phpshell i injected.

But, for proof it happened: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2319/...8e477a8b_b.jpg

and to see what happens when you get carried away with shit: http://augustanow.com

Lesson... um... there really isnt one.. I just felt like sharing that bullshit with yall.

Good day.

here's some real hacking, that has nothing to do with batch files or cracking a password...

it's called DNS Zone Transfer, and basically it's you tricking a DNS server into thinking you're another DNS server.

This really only works for people who are running Microsoft Windows.. so that's why im posting it. The first thing you need to do is open the command prompt. if you dont know how to do that without batting an eyelash... then you have no business actually doing this hack.

there is a command that you use to find out simple information about the website's DNS situation. it's called NSLOOKUP (basically means "nameserver lookup").

to use that command, just type in the command prompt: nslookup

then you're going to get a little arrow looking thing .. like this: >

when you're there, set the server you're going to be looking at.. such as; server anarchistcookbook.com

then you'll get another ">" arrow.. this time you're going to type in: set type=any

that tells it that you want all information.

then... if the bastards running the server haven't patched their BIND... you can run this little command: ls -d anarchistcookbook.com

now, if all goes well, you'll get a list of every domain and subdomain that server has on it.

if you successfully connect, and are recognized as another DNS server, you can run BIND commands, and possibly steal that domain name, or any domain listed on the server.

real hackers use this to get information about a target before actually attacking it.

enjoy.

from destructive.com

Silver Thermite

Well, it all started when I had some silver wastes lying around contaminated with copper. So, I had to figure a way to separate and purify. I took the silver/copper nitrate solution and added to sodium hydroxide. That precipitated the silver oxide and the copper hydroxide. I dried this a bit then added to some HCl, this dissolved the copper hydroxide and left (most of) the silver oxide. Then not wanting to loose any of this in the thermite reduction I had planned I decided to bind the silver oxide with the aluminum powder using sulfur, seeing as how it would just turn into gaseous sulfur dioxide when used as a binder compared to my other option plaster of Paris which would require more refining. So I took my silver oxide, my aluminum powder, and my sulfur and mixed in a pan under increasing heat. Eventually I could not tell there was even any sulfur added, I expected it to at least get goopy or something so I added some more and more. Finally even though I really couldn't tell a difference I figured enough was enough. I was loading it into a short length of copper pipe as a mold with a spoon when the whole mixture went up. It could have been from the residual hydroxide on the silver oxide reacting with the aluminum under high temperature, it could have been that enough heat had been formed to initiate a reaction, it could have been a lot of things but I swear I could s***l hydrogen sulfide in there somewhere.... I was wearing gloves but that wasn't enough, and my face shield turned into a twisted flaming piece of debris, the mixture deflagrated and went everywhere splashing silver over everything. The ground was all on fire and I was trying to calm myself as I looked at the glowing red liquid solidifying in the pan. I took stock of the situation, gloves intact, most of my hair still here, no obvious burn holes, no hair on my left arm, not too bad..... then I took the glove off my left hand, and most of my skin came with it. I had to spend 5 months in a glove waiting for it to heal, but I did get to lecture the doctor at the hospital over chemistry.

Lesson Learned: You can never take for granted the properties of a pyrotechnic composition, always wear proper protective gear.
