-Low use of resources(even by Linux standards)
-Environment suited for programming and engineering
-Good repositories
-Fast boot time and running

Here is my thesis on The Crucible

Miller tells us that people should question the ethics of their government. This means that leaders who are corrupt should be criticized, not the establishment they run. A government isn’t inherently evil, but its well being is often held at the mercy of selfish and greedy people who happen to be in power. The Crucible holds undeniable examples of these ideas.

Just because one follows a set of rules in a government, that doesn’t mean he or she holds them at heart. Minister Parris is an example of this. He is looked upon as being spiritual, but he is often concerned with material possessions. Having a position as minister in Salem, he feels that he shouldn’t live in poverty. Even though he is paid fairly by the people of Salem, his sense of importance encourages him to strive for more than what he already has. Increases in pay for firewood and the ownership of the house he lives in are what he asks for. But these two conditions are met with criticism by others because Parris is under a strict contract. He simply defended himself by asserting his importance as a man of God, making the need for more seem valid.

A person’s judgment isn’t made more valid by being projected through a state of influence and power. The court in the Crucible would object to anyone who would oppose them during the witch trials. Such would be that Judge Danforth said that people are either with or against the court and that there be “no road between”. By using his apparent rank in power as leverage, the judge was able to persecute others of witchcraft with little resistance. Danforth’s flawed judgment was exposed when he realized that many people died because of him. Having pride and fearing persecution himself, he attempted to make a scapegoat that would take the blame for the recent atrocities.

Having an institution of power makes it easy for someone to take advantage of it to achieve his or her own agendas. Abigail exploited the townspeople by accusing others of witchcraft. This allowed her to abuse the good intentions of institutionalized religion by destroying any who opposed her. So by using people’s fears, a government could become the very thing it wasn’t intentionally created to do. Her influence would even challenge Danforth’s authority when she threatened him by encouraging the possibility of witchcraft corrupting even high-level figures.

A government, in reality, isn’t what defines what it is meant to govern. You can love your country, but that doesn’t mean you have to blindly follow its government. A religion is similar in a few ways also. A religion can be good, but the people who run it are easily corrupted, making it to be a tool for personal gain. Also, just because there is a government, that doesn’t mean even the people in it will agree with it. Often they will change it to their own liking. In conclusion, Miller is trying to tell us that you should be against your government if it is wrong, and therefore should try and change it for the well being of your country and people alike.

Give your comments on it.

Here's a little debate for you kiddies.

At the end of WWII in the Pacific Campiagn, the Americans dropped two atomic bombs which ended the war with Japan.

The first bomb was codenamed Little Boy, and it was dropped in Hiroshima by the B-29 bomber Enola Gay. The power of the atomic bomb was unleashed. Many thousands of people instantly perished and their shadows were burned into the ground. some died of horrendous burns and others died of radiation sickness. People with dark clothing had the fabric burn into their skin. Those who didn't die directly from the blast would have cancer later in their lives, and their children would be born with birth defects.

Even after the first bomb was dropped, the Japanese didn't surrender because they were simply shocked from hearing what happened in Hiroshima. We dropped the second atomic bomb named Fat Man on Nagasaki. A similiar fate was met for the Japanese citizens in this city as well. It was with the second bomb that the Japanese finally surrendered to the United States.

So was it really necessary to end WWII by vaporizing innocent people?

So I have watched a lot of in-between breaks on television, and a lot of them are "above the influence" commercials. They often depict some teenager who is unhappy because of using marijuana, and he or she somehow end up hurting their family and friends. Also the people who make this commercial give the message that doing pot will make you weak and submissive to others for the sake of being "cool".

People say that we have free will, but you got to also consider the laws of physics. Things like Choas Theory can also be considered. Just think about it, if every action was carefully replicated, we could easily have duplicates of ourselves and the celestial bodies around us in a parallel universe.
You could have the entire history of Earth planned out from the beginning, even with how animals evolve.
Who knows, there might be copies of me typing this as we speak.
I especially love the Star Wars Battlefront francise, so it was no surprise when I got excited when I saw the trailer to the third installment in the series when it was leaked onto the interent.
I have noticed that many people have joined ACB, but an alarmingly high percentage of them aren't exactly active. And a lot of them just post a few times and never come back, usually because they got bored or got flamed by other members. Something progressive has to be done!

So I think that this site should raise the bar for people signing up. Before they can even be allowed to get to post or whatever, they first have to make an essay that tells what they are doing here and what they will contribute to. Then current members will carefully analyse it and vote on whether they can be allowed to have an account. (kind of like the introductions forum, but you actually decide someones fate). This will make sure that a new member isn't a noob or flame-worthy. Also if one newcomer doesn't add something new soon enough, we can revoke their account and get rid of it.

Doing this will surely reduce the amount of space wasted by short-lived members which have already plaqued this site. Remember people, you joined this site for a reason, and if it involves reading blogs while giving no good feedback whatsoever, then you don't deserve to be in here.

The only problem is that my own mother won't stop trying to get me to a barber. I honestly love her, but she seriously won't ever stop insulting me. It is pretty ridiculous when your own mother calls you gay and such. She even threatens me daily with punishment now like taking away my laptop, which she had no say in buying. I have no idea what her problem is, because I think my hair is something that's mine, not hers.

I just want her to see that this is my choice and should get used to it when I'm living on my own and out of her influence. Also I'm 17 now, so that reality isn't too far away. I have gone too far to have my hair cut to quit now, so what can I do?

America is known for many great things, but education isn't one of them. As a country and superpower we are far behind other nations when it comes to this matter. If a truly great indoctrination of education isn't put into use, then history will inevitably repeat itself when another economic great depression plagues our country. Because of that the American people are practically the laughingstock of the world. Without effectively and efficiently using resources to teach our children to be the next leaders of the free world, then our tax dollars are simply being thrown away. Many issues concerning how to prevent this horrible fate will be adressed here.

1. Dress Code
Almost all kids at school wear clothes that "express their true selves"; not true. Finding clothes that suit one's tastes is usually limited by how much one can afford. And being in a very capitalist country, materialistic teens want to buy the most expxensive clothing to project their wealth to others. Teens who are less wealthy will only buy cheaper clothing, which will make them less desirable to the same wealthy kids. This will only lead to bullying and social segragation. So it is essential that a strict dress code be enforced so that kids can only wear a uniform. Doing that will equalize students, meaning that kids will look past class and stereotypes that are associated with cliques. In the long run, this will make students much more comfortable with eachother instead of judging their character by the brand name they wear. That, and not to mention saving a lot of money on clothes shopping.

2. Teaching methods and materials
More often than not private schools are academically superior to their public counterparts, mostly because they can afford to. A lot of public schools are underfunded, especially my school. Lets just say that saving money on building my school by not adding walls between classes was a BAD idea, as you can literally hear everything from nearby classes......anyway...Most schools today have a very big student population, but not enough teachers to teach them all well enough. Simply put, if you are a teacher its better to teach fifteen instead of an unruly twenty five students. So quality of education is directly proportional to the concentration of kids. A good band aid solution would be to hire more teachers and build more classrooms. Paying them better is good too, as more money will give teachers a bigger budget to afford more hands-on teaching, which is proven to be better for students when compared to long and *****g lectures.

And what do you teach the kids with? I suggest scrapping the use of outdated and decrepid textbooks with something much more technologically advanced. E-books would be well-suited to this. They can hold much more information dispite their size. Also they can be updated with the latest information for teaching, which is crucial in an ever changing society. Replacing older books with newer ones is wasteful in money and resources. Also the smaller size will be great for diminishing fatique and back problems, as carrying the same information in book form is just too much for a student to handle. And with a touchpad, notes can be taken much more efficiently along with doing homework. Countries like South Korea already use this technology in education, so why not America?

3. Discipline
Actions that are taken to correct students' bad behavior in class are a joke in America. I myself have seen students who frequently go to after-school detention for poor conduct, but never even learn their lesson. In fact many of them even brag about it! I like the idea of administering punishment to misbehaving kids, its just that I don't think the educational staff are administering punishment correctly. They are too soft on kids who think its badass to keep others from learning or make other peoples' lives difficult. So I suggest using a technique that Catholic nuns are very well for....Instead of giving a permission slip to a kid for his or her parents to sign because of some outburst in class, and spend the next day after school sitting at a desk doing homework, we do an alternative. Instead of that nonsense, simply take the misbehaving kid and handcuff him or her to a desk and pull that students pants down, and let every person, especially the teacher, have a go at the student by taking a wooden paddle to his or her ass. And be sure to rotate ass cheeks, as hitting in the same spot will only make it numb. This may be a little extreme, but consider this: With this form of punishment, students are far less likely to interrupt a teacher or hurt fellow classmates. No one would surely want to piss off some people if those same people are the ones who decide the severity of the strikes to your ass. And so, behavior will be improved dramatically.

4. Student Living Quarters
If high school is supposed to prepare students for an adult world, then the idea of room and board should be used. Instead of having teenagers living with their parents, they could live with a room mate in an apartment. Placing apartment complexes near educational facilities can solve many problems. Without having parents around, teenagers can learn to depend on themselves for making decisions. This would in turn make them more responsible, meaning that students learn the importance of money by getting a job instead of getting a weekly allowance. And having every neighbor as a student can make everyone more social and easier to interact. And having students live near a school will eliminate the need for public transportation by buses. This in turn can afford teens the luxury to squeeze in more time sleeping. If one thing is for sure, awake and aware kids are much better at learning than tired kids. Also having kids calling in "sick" would be reduced when people can check your room to see if your claim is true.

5. Sexual Education
Many schools, especially in the Southern states, discourage programs that teach about safe sex. Instead they put their faith in the tried and failed concept of abstinence-only programs. This doesn't work, and for many reasons. Many teenagers want to have sex, but usually don't know about things like STDs and why they spread. Its better to educate teenagers in this matter, so that they can be more responsible and careful about sex. Also its futile to discourage a bunch of hormornal and moody kids to not have sex if they don't even bother to listen. And lets not forget that the teaching about contraceptives will drastically reduce teenage pregancy, which is a very big issue in this country. Its much better to prevent pregancy than to be forced to become a parent and forget about having a future in higher education.

6. Physical Education
Even though this isn't like regular teaching, physical education is still very important as it builds the body. Many teens in America are overweight or obese. This epidemic would stem from the fact that excercise and body weight go hand in hand. Having kids do simple but effective excercises like jogging is a very viable treatment to this issue. Also with excercise is proven to not just burn calories, but to build the structure in your bones, meaning the average height of our children will be increased as well. So by making our kids excercise you're essentially killing two birds with one stone, as you're helping kids to grow vertically instead of horizontally. I know I might be sounding mean, but lets face it, obese kids will face health problems later in life; not to mention the immediate repercussions by being made fun of by others.

If these issues are addressed, then I can garantee that the overall health of our children will be improved. I know some of this stuff will be hard to accomplish on a widespread scale, but this is America people. We say we are the greatest country, yet we always lose to other nations when it comes to education, which is of course a measure of intelligence. In fact the average IQ for an American citizen is a mere 98, compared to 108 for a citizen in Hong Kong. So instead of investing in weapons and war, we could invest in the much more fulfilling notion in education. Only then after turning around this intellectual decline will we even be allowed to say that we're a great people and country. Of course, our last president was too incompetent to realize that by making the conflict in the Middle East. That, and the No Child Left Behind Act, but I don't want to get into that now.

I hope you liked my long rant on American Education. But I still feel the need to refine it, so I'd like to hear your opinions on it. Can't wait to hear your replies!

I love music with a passion. It made me want to become a rockstar, so I would spend hours playing Rock Band, but that wasn't enough for me. Also doing air guitar to my favorite Classic rock song didn't help either.

So I decided to buy a guitar for myself. It turns out that my friend played guitar, and he had a very worn out model that cost me one hundred dollars. It was a Peavey Raptor EXP, with a chipped paint finish and heavy gage strings with little tension left in them. I bought my investment over spring break last year, and I tell you that I love the guitar!

The very first song I learned was Enter Sandman by Metallica, but soon learned other songs. I never tried to play songs from Nickelback or Fallout Boy or whatever stupid teenyboppers gossip about, instead I learned from the real masters of the guitar. I learned hard rock from Jimmy Jage, more psychedelic and acid rock from Jimi Hendrix, blues from BB King, gypsy jazz from Django Reinhardt, metal from Eddie Van Halen and electric blues from Stevie Ray Vaughen. I want to be like my idols so that maybe I too can become great like them.

Over the next nine monthes, I stopped tripping over my own fingers and could actually play with precision. The fact that I practiced for over an hour everyday might have helped with that. I can also play in comeplete darkness if I can lay my notes down to. Also even though the strings I have are very old, they haven't even broken, so I don't really need to replace them. For my choice in picks, I use the most rigid ones I can buy, as they produce a fuller sound compared to a flexible pick. And I can tune my strings by ear with proficiency, which is very helpful.

So I have been playing for quite while and I am even able to make my own material. But before I can even perform, I would need some decent equipment to record songs and see if people like them. Also my electric guitar isn't the best in quality, so I'll need to buy another one. And an acoustic guitar might be a great addition too, as I don't really like practicing with the one my friend has.

I would have to say that I'm doing quite well as a guitarist, as I learned everything without the need for formal lessons. But I am musically illiterate, which puts me at a bit of a disadvantage. Of course, I'll try to learn to read sheet music sometime when I'm not too busy practicing some chords.

That's all I have to say about myself, so what got you into playing guitar? Adding things like guitar model , songs you've first learned and favorite guitar players would be great too. Can't wait to hear!

Before I get started on this seemingly interesting topic, I would like to clarify a few things. If you are planning to answer this question, don't give me a comment like "yah i would love to see some tits on my windshield at a carwash". Just to let everybody know, I don't want to feel like a gold miner when I'm sifting through shit just to find a decent argument that's remotely worth replying to...And also before you criticise me on this, just think this argument out with sound logic and reasoning, then you'll understand why I posted this.

In school my English teacher was talking to my classmates and I about the play The Crucible, and how it related to nudity and the human body. He said that the puritans in Salem, Massachusetts would often view the naked body as gross and perverse, so it would always be hidden. But today's America is less uptight about this growing issue, yet its still divided on both sides of this argument. So, should nudity be allowed?

In Puritan America and other religions today, nudity is hardly allowed, in fact its usually taboo. But covering up the body can be detrimental for everyone, as it makes people sensitive to the very thought of seeing a person naked, even to the point of arousal. Slowely, if left unchecked, the build-up of carnel desire can even destroy oneself from the inside.

Once popular movements like the Hippie movement of the 60's would actively object against the wearing of clothing. Many hippies even went against the wearing of bras, which was said to restrict the beauty of a woman's features. But this misguided movement would become less mainstream unfortunately as years progressed, and it simply failed to establish which it stood for: freedom of the human body.

Modern America, in its still young and niave stage as a country, has a strange culture on the censorship of nudity. Many restrictions are placed on it, such as in television, movies and advertisements. But the quasi-good intensions of shielding our children from the image of a bare bady are often defeated when those same children find out the horrible way when they find a naked body in the form of pornography. If they instead just make nudity commonplace, parents wouldn't have to worry about covering up their children's eyes, as seeing a naked person will just be another part of their lives. If they don't, then a child will see a sexual act as a shock to their young and fragile minds.

Pornography is one of the most successful businesses in the market today. It often portays people doing sexual acts more often than not, naked. To the average viewer of such material, he or she can only conclude that the body being shown without clothing can only be accociated with having sex. With the abolishment of strict laws on clothing in public, people will feel less need for pornography, and so the industry will play a less important part in our lives.

However, the human body isn't some disgusting feature worth hiding, as it is in fact a work of art. During the Renessiance period, many artists like Michealangelo would make sculptures of people who were of course naked. One of his most famous scultures would undoubtably be the Statue of David, which portrays a man standing without any clothing of course. Fortunately many art schools still practice this magnificent art when students have to sculpt a posing naked person. A person who aspires from art can only conclude that the human body is in fact perfectly natural to see in all of its entirety.

Europe when compared to its Western cousen, is much more liberal and open-minded on the topic of nudity. In fact the very same English teacher I mentioned earlier would tell stories of when he lived in France. He said that during his trip to an art museum, he walked down to a subway and saw a group of high school students who were about my age. The group were sitting across from a massive Dove soap advertisement poster on a wall, which portrayed a woman who was swimming in the Amazon River, completely naked. Most people would think that a bunch of hormone-driven teens would have been staring at the poster, and fantasise about it too. In fact, my teacher said that the group was acting as if it didn't even exist, as they were simply gossiping about petty things like any teenager would do!

So it is in my humble opinion that nudity should be allowed. If people just embraced the natural beauty of the human body, then there would also be less need for censorship. Being desensitised for us would mean that instead of viewing a person without clothes as being sexual and erotic, we could simply respect it as just another beauty that nature can give. However, don't think that nudity and pornagraphy are the same, as they are infact comepletely different. An advertisent of a young baby suckling on its mother's breast is natural and beautiful, but seeing a video of a couple having sensual and erotic sex in just that, sex.

If you don't believe this argument, then just lock up all animals in sight, as they're naturally naked bodies must be a hideous sight to behold for you.

There are many substances that we put into our bodies, medically, religiously or recreationally. But which one poses the least danger to us?

I myself would say that shrooms and marijuana are the least harmful, because they all can be found in nature. Seriously, how can something that grows on your backyard(if you don't get caught of course!) be dangerous? Not only that, but there has never been a recorded death from smoking marijuana in our entire written history! And the non-toxic magic mushrooms are not bad either, in fact they're edible!

Every year, it seems that my town becomes plaqued by a menace that just won't seem to go away: Jehovah Witnesses. They are such a nuisence to every person who finds these cretins at their doorstep. And despite having the doors slam in their faces, these people just go to the next house on the street; only to have the cycle repeat itself. Their preaching in the form of pamphlets is sickening to anyone unfortunate enough to stand witness to such a thing. The Jehovah Witnesses need realise the error in their ways and just stop this truly unjust cult of door to door preaching!

But of course I knew that this religious crime wave won't stop anytime soon, so I just decided to mess around with a witness when I had one at my very doorstep. I told her that I was an athiest before she even had the chance to speak. Her face was flushed with red, and she looked nervous before just backing off to leave. Of course when she was almost off my lawn she yelled "Jesus is real and you won't go to heaven!" The nerve!

So what would you do if you found yourself with the opportunity to mess around with these religious zealots?

If there's one thing I love, its music. I love listening to all types of rock music, especially oldies. But if there's one thing I hate, its paying to listen music. I find it very hard to find new songs to put on my mp3 player without using a filesharing program. I would love to use limewire or kazaa, but I don't want my brand new laptop being slown down with all kinds of viruses and spam. Also I don't really like the idea of getting caught by the RIAA and get financially raped in court because of some petty illegal activity. So it is in my humble opinion that the laws on mp3 file sharing should be abolished. Why you say? Well for starters, having free mp3s help real musicians become noticed by others as I'm sure not many people are willing to pay for a new song from an unknown artist that they don't know is listenable or not. And if someone doesn't the song, he or she could simply delete it and look for another song and not feel guilty about wasting a dollar on itunes. Also free mp3s, in a way, supports freedom of speech, as music is meant to express an artist's imagination and feelings, which isn't meant to be corrupted by greed. Another important reason is that it can spread the word of a new great musician with great talent, and without being impeded by the need to buy the music, can spread like wild fire on websites and word of mouth alike. This can really boost the sales of an artist if one should ever decide to tour across a region, as I'm sure you can't download yourself experiencing a concert, so people HAVE to pay to see a new sensation. All in all, I think paying for music only hurts people and musicians alike, so the mp3 format should be free to use and share.
I hoped you like my argument. But of course I want to hear everyone else's, so what do you think: Should mp3s be free?

Given the large amount of zombie films popping up lately, I started to wonder: What would I do if zombies somehow became real and started attacking everybody? I would have got into those detailed paragraphs like I did a while ago, but I feel like changing a bit this time. OK, it goes like this; if I was attacked by zombies and there was a massive outbreak, I would:
1. Run away to avoid being bitten. Also try to spread the word of an impending outbreak to gain some followers, afterall teamwork can greatly increase the chances of survival.
2. Try to grab whatever weapons I have (baseball bats, knives, bows etc.)for protection and put on protective clothing like a leather jacket. Also I could go to the nearest military surplus store and buy necessities like rations and tools while currency can still be used.
3. Make a group of close friends and just move around to safe areas like forests, while avoiding highly populated areas. During that step we could live off of the land by hunting and such.
4. When most of the country is basically an army of shambling undead, my friends and I could move in and raid places which have unperishables and maybe some firearms as well if there's any left.
5. Try to find survivors to add to our group. Of course new people have to go under a strict test to see what position they should hold, like smart people for making decisions and stronger people for raiding dangorous areas.
6. Have everyone go under a strict training regiment to bring order and discipline.
7. Make for a well protected building and barricade every possible way in, but not permamently though in case of escape. Food also has to be carefully rationed out if it means holding out longer in isolation.
8. Use the building roof to grow crops for food and use it to make signs for a possible rescue. We could even use solar panels and generators for restoring power if the building offers one of those options.
9. Maintain safety from there, but also try do recreational things as well to avoid boredom and even insanity(of course I probably don't have to mention SPECIFIC activities if your smart enough to understand)
10. If one of us manages to have a radio, we could use it to send messages to try to establish concact with possible rescuers. Either that or leave to find a large and secluded area where we no longer have to worry about pus-ridden zombies.
11. Repolulate like anyone resonsible should, because the survival of the human species depends on it.
Lets see...for carrying weapons I would use a semi-automatic kalashnikov(AK-47 and its more modern versions), as they are well known for having a very rugged design that has very high tolerances, allowing it to be used without the need for constant maintenence. The reason for carrying a semi-automatic is that those versions are the only ones legal to own in the US, and you only need one bullet shot to the head to kill a zombie. Also I would carry an m1911 colt as my sidearm, which packs the man-stopping .45 AMP round, that's why this reliable model remained in military service for over 70 years. I could also bring a crowbar, which can be used for attacking and doing other tasks like opening a door or braking a window.

For disposing of dead bodies, I would just burn them somewhere out of sight. If there was no accelerant and lighter around however, I would probably dig a shallow grave for them to decompose without risking infecting others.
That's what I plan to do during an imaginary zombie attack. But enough about me; what would you do?

I know this seems a tad bit irrelevent to this forum, but I'm going ask anyway. I know that many people have joined this site, but why did they? I myself joined not because I'm some random teen who just wants to blow stuff up, but instead I like to learn and accumulate knowledge. Such would be that I'm currently taking AP chemistry in high school and we're working with volatile compounds. I kind of find it interesting how these chemicals can break down and release enormous amounts of energy. So I decided that I should become part of this website and could therefore learn from others who deal with such things all the time, instead of simply reading from a textbook. I want the more educated people, especially the moderators, to teach me the ways of this great art so that I can further satisfy my thirst for science. So before I lose track as to why I'm writing this, I would like to ask, why did you join this website in the first place? (I bet this thread will be met with critisism for sure)

I just recently joined this site, so I'm pretty new to the subject of making explosives. So what are the best recipes for begginers? I'm hoping its nothing too complicated or dangerous to make, as I really don't want to have my arms blown off because I didn't read the directions carefully enough. Anyway are there any suggestions?
