Ratios for solids and liquids

Looking back on older threads I found one of mine and it used 9 parts a liquid and 1 part solid.

Now I know that everything is measured in metric, but how would you weigh it out?

Like, can you really do 9 grams of the liquid and 1 gram of the solid? Or is there a conversion you need to do?

Also from that thread was an unanswered question.

I heard that gasoline was a good (or atleast useable) substitute for chlorate. T/F?

Molding Thermite

Is there anything you can add to thermite to make it moldable but still have it as high burning?

Or could you like mix it in with playdough and it still work?

Making Water Proof Fuses

Well I know already how to make regular fuses (though as ghost points out in his thread, they aren't the safest ones to use, then again when was that fun ) and I was talking to my friends today about some good old southern fishin'. And of course what comes up? Explosives.

Now I don't PLAN on actually doing that, but it got me thinking, how would i make a water proof fuse?

Does anyone have any ideas?

Long lasting large sparklers

So, my friends every now and then have this fight night (don't ask...). Well they wanna start having AWESOME entrances. Well I offered to help (don't quite remember doing so) and they were wondering about some large long lasting sparklers.

Now, I wanna work with pyrotechnics for a long time, so I wanna make these, not go buy them (will do if I fail though).

Does anyone have any cheap (or semi-cheap) process of making these?

They will be suspended upside down so it will have to be packed into something securely.

Any ideas?

(Yes I do plan on having all things done as safely as possible, and having medical supplies, and emergency ready to reach if need be)

Rules of Pyro-ing

Simple rules. Read and you have a less chance of getting hurt and a MUCH less chance of dieing.

1) Wear protection. That means goggles and gloves.
2) NO FREE HANG CLOTHS! If you wear over sized clothing, you should start getting some normal fitting for this.
3) Long Hair=tie back. Yes hair is flammable.
4) WAFT! If you see smoke, waft it towards you if you so damn curious. That means keep your face away and use your hand to pull the fumes towards you.
5) Ratio is very important. Wrong ratios equal BAD booms.
6) Ratio's are done by mass. NOT by measure.
7) "Substituting" ingredients is not smart.
8) Always keep a first aid kit. ALWAYS!
9) Don't be afraid to ask. Though this site doesn't baby feed, it will give helpful information.
10) Don't piss off other pyros. They will show you how good they are.
11) Don't rush. Thats what causes all the accidental booms that make us laugh at you.
12) Don't pack too hard while packing a casing - be firm but gentle
13) Buy around. Search around for chemicals. Some might be cheaper at different places. This will also reduce the chance of raising suspicion on yourself.
14) Slow heat is good heat. If you are to stupid to believe this, get some KNO3 in a pan, put it on the stove with the heat turned all the way up and keep your head over it
15) Use a reliable detonation/ignition source. If you have to think about weather it's a good substitute or not, it's not
16) Added oxygen in the environment will speed up any oxidation. Is a stupid person rule <_<
17) Don't make stockpile far before hand. Could go off in your face, or in you house. Or anywhere, and it's hard to talk yourself out of that one.
18) Pre-weigh chemicals. If not, the rush could cause you to mess up horribly, making EVERYTHING worse.
19)When working with fine powders or something thats giving off potentially toxic fumes use a gas mask. If you die from that, people WILL laugh.
20) Fire blankets are also handy to have nearby. You know "in case you've done something stupid and set your pants on fire."
21) If you must work in a place without ventilation you will have a dust cloud over your head when using fine powders,even if you can't see it,believe me its there. Believe it!
22) Spray a little anti-static spray over the area you are working in.You can get a can of this very cheaply in the laundry section of your neighborhood grocery store.
23) Remember as humidity goes down,danger of static electricity goes up. Learn your self some stuff!
24) And for God's sake do NOT! use an electric fan for ventilation. Go ahead and try if you want <.<
25) If one of your bombs is a dud (happened to all of us) wait several minutes to make sure its out and safe to approach then dispose of it properly. REMEMBER: the bomb was a dud for a reason..learn from your mistakes
26) If working with someone, keep up to date on EVER little action. EVER....ACTION!!
27) Ice baths are useful for quickly cooling something that is unexpectedly heating to fast, or for just working in to keep temp low. A good thermometer is your friend.
28) Understand basic chemistry. OBVIOUS SHIT!!
29) No unneeded flames!
30) Fire extinguish > water when dealing with fire. Keep it handy.
31) Have sodium-hydrogen-carbonate available to rinse off harmful chemicals.
32) Sober and clean makes a pyro quite the fiend. Clear headed chemistry ftw.
33) If you can see an explosive, your at risk for being in range.
34) Know where your explosives are so the hidden ones aren't in range.
35) Keep work area clean
36) Make sure everyone (including pets) is out of the danger zone.
37) LABEL
38) Clean your equipment
39) If there is ANY risk of someone else finding your materials and hurting themselves or others, lock it up.

Feel free to add any ACTUALLY GOOD rules if you wish.

Need correct ratio/ingredients

Alright I got this formula and before I do it, I want to double check it. It's for C4.

9 parts chlorate (was told could use gas is this correct?)
1 part vasoline

If you know a better formula please feel free to tell me, but if you want you can just give me the correct ratio for the one above.

When using an RC wireless detonator

Is there any cheap way to replace the part you use as the igniter? (I.E.- from what I'm understanding the motherboard, receiver, and the connecting wires) I'm would prefer to use a stronger long range remote, but I don't want to have to get and expensive set because of that.

And if I can get it cheap, would I have to re-channel my remote or would I have to do it on the board?

Multi-Detonation thought

If I were to make an electronic detonator, could I have one main like from the "send" line that splits off to others and have the same with the "receive" line so that 2 or more could be ignited at once?

If it would work, at what amount do you think I would have to increase the amount of power (basically # of batteries) from the detonator?

Remote Detonator Question

Already so I found a pretty good set of instructions to make a remote detonator that even has safety features (http://www.instructables.com/id/Elec...ator/?ALLSTEPS) and I have seen other detonator as well. One thing I've noticed a lot is that alligator clips seem to be the big thing. Are they required? Or could I just as easily go without them?

Oh, and I notice that it also says Nichrome wire. Any reasonable substitutions that I can just go to Lowes and get?
