Like its predecessor, Left 4 Dead 2 is primarily a first-person shooter, with some cutscenes presented in the third-person or using pre-rendered movies. The game presents five new campaigns, larger in size than those of the first game. Each will be playable in the campaign, versus, survival and the new scavenge mode.
Left 4 Dead 2 retains the three game modes of the original game; campaign, versus, survival and adds a new game mode called scavenge. In campaign mode up to four human players fight against the computer controlled infected to make their way between safe houses and eventually to rescue. In versus mode up to four other human players take control of the various Special Infected who try to prevent the Survivors from reaching the next safe house. The two teams swap sides once per chapter and are scored based on their play through as Survivors, with the scoring based on factors such as health, distance traveled and the number of Survivors alive at the end.Survival mode is a timed challenge where the survivors are trapped in a section of the campaign maps, and try to survive as long as possible against an unending onslaught of infected. The fourth mode, new for Left 4 Dead 2, is called Scavenge. In the four-on-four mode, the survivor players are required to collect and use as many of the sixteen gas canisters scattered about a level to continue to power generators, extending the time in the round, while the infected players attempt to stop them, or at times, detonate the canisters themselves. New maps specific for this mode will be distributed with the game.
A "realism" mode was accidentally revealed during a media event, while Valve gave no specific details they described it as a special modifier made to give a challenge to very skilled players.

The infected in Left 4 Dead 2 are largely unchanged from Left 4 Dead. While referred to as zombies, the infected are humans mutated by a virus of unknown origin. The most numerous infected encountered by the survivors are the "common infected", individually weak, but can swarm and overwhelm the survivors with large numbers. In Left 4 Dead 2, damage dealt to the infected will be portrayed more realistically, with bullets tearing off bits of flesh and in some cases, limbs. A new addition to Left 4 Dead 2 are the "uncommon infected" unique to each campaign. By virtue of equipment worn before infection or mutation, they possess an ability that separates them from the common infected. For example, in the Parish campaign the player will encounter infected wearing Hazmat suits and riot gear, making them almost impervious to fire and gunfire from the front, respectively.[15]
As in the first game, there are "special" or "boss" infected in addition to the common infected whose mutations grant them special attacks that make them much more dangerous. The presence of such infected nearby is hinted at by sound effects unique to each type, or with certain musical cues. The five special infected from the first game return in Left 4 Dead 2, some with modified behavior. They are: the Boomer, a bloated infected whose vomit and bile (which may be released at will and upon death) blinds the player briefly and attracts a horde of common infected; the Hunter, an agile infected that can pounce on survivors from great distances; the Smoker, an infected that can ensnare survivors with its long tongue from a distance and, upon death, releases a cloud of smoke that obscures vision; the Tank, a gigantic, muscular infected that is powerful and difficult to kill. It can knock players backwards, dealing massive damage, or attack from afar by throwing a lump of debris - it also has the ability to bash certain objects, such as cars and dumpsters, towards survivors, that will cause incapacitation on contact; the Witch, a passive female infected, who, when provoked by loud sounds, lights, or proximity of survivors, will attack her provoker - she is able to incapacitate or kill the provoker (depending on the difficulty setting) in one hit. If her victims survive, she will attempt to kill them if not killed herself. In Left 4 Dead 2, the Witch will wander around in daytime levels.
Several new Special Infected are being introduced in Left 4 Dead 2, all of which are playable in versus and the new Scavenger game mode. The Charger is an infected with a mutated, oversized arm, and can move quickly and knock players in its path off their feet. It can also grab players and smash them against the ground to deal major damage. The Spitter can project balls of mutated phlegm that splatter across an area, eroding the survivors' health as long as they remain within it. The Jockey can jump onto the back of a survivor and steer them towards other infected or traps set by the game.

We think we can say with some certainty that the failure to announce a new Zelda game for the Wii as rumoured at the Nintendo press conference probably disappointed the odd Nintendo devotee. That said, though no new Wii game was brought into the fold there, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, which was announced at this year's Game Developers Conference in March, is now finally playable.

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks represents the second iteration of the long-running Zelda franchise brought to the DS handheld, and if our time and review of Phantom Hourglass serves as any indicator of what to expect, fans should be in for another special outing with everyone's favourite little adventurer.

The demo was split to show off distinct elements of gameplay, with the first designed to show off Link and the way he will not only interact with phantoms, but control them directly to stay alive and clear puzzles. Our early experiences had us using phantoms to move to and then stand on touch plates to open doors. Like Link's boomerang in Phantom Hourglass, you'll simply need to switch to the phantom by clicking the portrait at the bottom left-hand side of screen to select and then paint on the intended path to follow. Phantoms will follow orders, so you'll need to click the call button to get them to return to you if you want them to come back rather than hold a position indefinitely. Given that Phantoms are immune to damage from fire, you'll need to control them remotely to get through obstacles and flick switches so Link can pick up keys or open chests. At one point we were required to switch constantly between the two, putting the phantom between us and a fire-spewing wall socket to inch along two narrow parallel b*****s. We can see potential for this mechanic to be used frequently to avoid backtracking while still requiring some lateral thinking to solve puzzles. Opening a chest, we unlocked a tornado weapon, which we used to lower a wooden drawb***** by firing the weapon at a switch.

Considering that phantoms are fireproof, you'll also be able to use them as makeshift transport over dangerous terrain. Link isn't a fan of lava swimming, so you'll need to walk your phantom into the hazard and then double-tap its head to hop on, using your shield as a seat. From here you can simply command your phantom around, exploring the area or crossing to safety. You're not immune to damage while you ride, though, and on a couple of occasions we were knocked off by things living in the lava jumping and hitting us on the chin. Falling penalised us a heart and returned us to the place where we hopped aboard.

Not surprisingly, transport is a major theme in Spirit Tracks, and whereas Phantom Hourglass relied on a manually steered boat to get around the various islands, here we used the new train in its place. We didn't get a chance to see how you get on or off the train, but once onboard, you'll control its movement in two distinct ways. A lever on the right-hand side of the touch screen lets you determine your speed with several preset notches--the top one makes you go fastest, whereas the middle brings you to a stop, and the lowest puts you in reverse. This ability to alter your speed comes in handy when you first encounter the track switches that determine your path. The currently selected track appears in red, and the upcoming multidirection track is marked in white. A small left or right toggle on the lower screen will pop up, prompting you to either leave it where it is to follow the current path, or change it to go the other way. Tooling around on the stylus adjusts your camera view of the train.

Like in Phantom Hourglass, you'll encounter obstacles along the way, both in the form of passive and active targets to bomb. Powder kegs on the tracks need to be blown up before you hit them, and wild animals wander around and need either a blast with your horn (by pulling down on the dangling rope above your speed controls) or a paddling with a cannonball.

Spirit Tracks retains the art and charm of Phantom Hourglass, and though we've had only a short amount of time to dabble, the controls and travel mechanics will be familiar to returning Zelda fans and welcoming to newcomers alike when it ships on the DS.

Usually you rake these fuckers up before winter. But I always never get them all which makes this good because their all wet and stinking. You take a good 1inch layer of them and put them somewhere to burn. Then over this you build like a 1ft. tall hut structure with sticks/boxes/etc. Then you pile a shit load of leaves on that be sure to leave a small hole somewhere in the pile and fill it with paper and some kindling sort stuff + a few small logs. Then you light hole. When it starts burning good with a bunch of embers pile some more leaves on. Really keep doing this.
