The directions in this file must be followed EXACTLY!! if it sais heat over a flame then heat over a flame, do not use any other heating method.
If it sais use a glass salad bowl then use a glass salad bowl!!

Also, the maximum and minimum margins have already been given to you e.g. 100-150ml, OR 80-85 degrees Celsius…. GOT IT



Materials required…

Tennis ball
Sand
Measuring container (0-500 ml)
Thermometer ( up to 100 Celsius NOT METAL)
Accurate scales ( accurate to one gram)
3 Coffee filters
Tape
Aluminum foil
Cups-jars-salad bowls (not metal!!!!)
Pipette
Ice
Large bucket
blender
plastic cups
a reliable canon fuse
Cutting tools

A good knowledge of chemistry

Chemicals required where they can be found

1 pint 3% hydrogen peroxide--Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Kmart, pharmacies, dollar stores.

High solvency acetone------ Kmart, Wal-Mart, home depot, Menards, hardware stores.

Hydrochloric acid------------ hardware stores( goes under name- muriatic acid) also sold as acidic drain cleaners( check on back to be sure its Hydrochloric acid)(the brand I used was rubber-maid acidic toilet bowl cleaner that I bought at Wal-Mart)

Ammonium nitrate (about 50 grams)--- instant cold packs-- Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Kmart, pharmacies

Baking soda------------------------ almost everywhere

Water---------------------------------- everywhere

Procedure…

Just a quick note--- acetone peroxide, which is what you will be working with, is a high explosive that is VERY dangerous about a half gram could blow of fingers, more than three could KILL you!!!

Also hydrochloric acid can cause severe chemical burns!! I would know, I had a drop land on my hand from the pipette I was using to add it to the main mixture and received a hellish chemical burn SO BE CAREFUL!!!.

Another quick note--- anything that will be coming into contact with the hydrogen peroxide at ANY stage of the synthesis cannot be metal, glass and ceramics are fine.

One last thing, re read the instructions multiple times before attempting this.

O.K then lets start

THIS FIRST PART TELLS YOU HOW TO MAKE ACETONE PEROXIDE.

1) get a glass salad bowl IT MUST BE GLASS AND MUST HAVE A LARGE SUFACE AREA!!!. Then pour your one-pint of hydrogen peroxide onto it. Place the salad bowl over a small flame and heat the hydrogen peroxide to 80-85 degrees Celsius. Maintain this temperature and allow the water to evaporate IF THE hydrogen peroxide starts to boil then LOWER THE TEMPURATURE!!!.

2) allow it to evaporate for about 5-8 hours (depending on salad bowl surface area) measure the volume of hydrogen peroxide at random intervals and stop the evaporation process when you are left with 150 ml of hot hydrogen peroxide.

3) Allow this to cool to 0 Celsius. ( after it cools you should be left with 100-150 ml of 25-30% hydrogen peroxide)

4) Next measure out 175 ml of acetone and 40ml of hydrochloric acid. Mix them and allow them to cool to 0 Celsius separately from the hydrogen peroxide.

5) Now make an ice bath in your bucket and place a large glass jar into it. (the ice bath must cover at most ¼ of the bottom jar and the jar must hold at least 1 letter of liquid).

6) Now slowly poor the hydrogen peroxide into the jar in the ice bath. be sure that after adding the hydrogen peroxide it is still 0 Celsius.

7) THIS STEP REQUIRES MAXIMUM PRECITION!!!
Over a time period of 30 minuets slowly add the acetone/hydrochloric acid mixture to the hydrogen peroxide. Constantly stir with the glass thermometer and be sure the temperature dose not rice above 5 Celsius. if it dose, add more ice to the ice bath and stop adding the acetone/hydrochloric acid mixture until it cools back to zero.

8) after adding all the acetone/hydrochloric acid to the hydrogen peroxide stir for an additional 10 min and the leave the ice bath and acetone peroxide synthesis container in a dark place for 40-50 hours. ( check on ice bath every 2-3 hours to be sure it is still cold if not then add ice!!!.)

9) after about two days of synthesis there will be a large sediment of acetone peroxide at the bottom of the jar filter it through a coffee filter.

this is how to set up your filtering device…

10) cut a few small holes in the bottom of 3 plastic cups and tape a coffee filter to the top of each one. Go outside somewhere and slowly poor the solution through the coffee filters (distribute evenly on all three filtering units.)

11) after all the acetone peroxide has collected on the filter you will need to neutralize the acid this is what to do…

make a solution of 1000ml water and five tables spoons of baking soda. Allow baking soda to dissolve in the water and then slowly poor about 300ml of baking soda solution over each filtering unit. After that poor another 100ml of plain water over each filtering unit.

12) after neutralizing the acid allow the acetone peroxide to sit for about 15 min for the water to drain out. then carefully un-tape the coffee filters from the cups and places them on a separate ceramic or glass plates and place the plates in separate dark places to allow the acetone peroxide to dry out. ( DO NOT DRY THE ACETONE PEROXIDE UNDER A LAMP however you may use a small fan to aid in the drying process.

13) once the acetone peroxide has dried you can powder it lightly with your fingers into a another plastic container.

GOOD JOB YOUR DONE!!!

Just so you know what you are dealing with take two pinches (like salt pinches) and place them on an anvil or any hard surface and hit it with a hammer… very loud huh… SO BE CAREFULL!!!!

Also do not store acetone peroxide for more than a week, it will be bad

This next section tells you how to make the main charge and primary explosive

You will be using a 1/6 ratio of acetone peroxide to ammonium nitrate and a 2-gram blasting cap (yes, it is overkill but better be on the safe side)

First you will need to measure the volume of your tennis ball. You can use math or this other method…

1) cut a 1 cm diameter hole into the tennis ball and fill it with sand.
2) Empty ALL the sand from the tennis ball into a measuring container and measure the volume of the sand. ( to save you some time it is 70 ml)
3) Take your cold pack and carefully cut the bottom of there will be a hole bunch of little ammonium nitrate balls that fall out so capture then in bowl if you accidently ruptured the water bag that is also in there then leave the ammonium nitrate and water under a light over night to dry out.
4) When you have dry ammonium nitrate the stick all of it in a blender and blend it as finely as you can. (If you have a mortar and pestle this will be better.)
5) Take the ammonium nitrate and fill the measuring container up to the same volume as the sand was before (75 ml)
6) Take the 75 ml of ammonium nitrate and weigh it (to save you time again it is 57 grams)
7) Divide the weight you get by 6 and take that # worth of acetone peroxide and carefully mix the ammonium nitrate and acetone peroxide together.( so about 10 grams)

So bacicaly you need a mixture of 9 grams acetone peroxide and 57 grams ammonium nitrate finely powdered.

From this point the mixture is pretty much stable.

8) fill the tennis ball with the AN-AP (ammonium nitrate-acetone peroxide) mixture
9) next you will have to make a blasting cap this is quite easy…
10) take a pen preferably between 0.6-0.8cm in diameter and wrap 4-6 layers of aluminum foil on the bottom 4cm of the pen and then tape over the aluminum foil with masking tape or electric tape
11) then slide the small cylinder off the pen and lightly tape the bottom of the aluminum foil cylinder with some more tape.
12) Fill the inner cavity of the cylinder with 2 grams of acetone peroxide and insert the fuse. ( A good place to get some canon fuse is roman candles. Just take them apart and remove the fuse you want at least 5 inches of fuse, but more is welcome.)

13) After inserting the fuse close up the foil with your hands ( don’t worry its safe just don use any tools) .

14) Place another layer of tape over the entire cap and secure the fuse with the tape (just so it doesn’t fall out).

15) Lastly place the blasting cap into the tennis ball as far as you can and tape over hole so no AN-AP or blasting cap will fall out.

YOU ARE FINALY DONE!!!!!

You may have a few grams of acetone peroxide left, I suggest you make blasting caps ( but with ¼ gram AP) and use them as firecrackers they are pretty damn loud

!!!WARNING!!!

This explosive has the potential of a grenade!!!
Do not throw the bomb, set it on the ground light the fuse and RUN TH FU** AWAY.

Also, Don’t even think of using this file to do any damage to people or property!!

I do this stuff as a recreation and have a dedicated area to blow stuff up. Your back yard is not where you want to do this. There is no dought that your neighbors will call the police!!!
