While the drastic increase in China's economy is very impression it just goes to show what happens when entrepreneurs are allowed to do what they do best, create jobs and wealth. Imagine where China would be right now if they had loosened the communist grip on their 1.6 Billion people. Just imagine all of China looking like Hong Kong..... they would truly be the superpower they ought to be.

While the notion of a large middle class sounds good in theory it is simply unrealistic.

In the 1950s while the American middle class was buying houses and new cars, people in the

USSR could barely afford to feed their children, millions of whom starved to death due the

the governments mismanagement of farms.

The bottom line is that capitalist societies consistently have higher standards of living. Lower violent crime rates, fewer starving citizens, greater spending power, and more stable economies are all characteristics of capitalist societies. Not just the rich are more fortunate under capitalist societies, everyone is more fortunate.
