Seriously, that is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard. (No offence)

Basically a tubular lock is full of 'pins' (little metal cylinders) which must be pushed up a certain amount to spin the plug (unlocking the door).
A key achieves this. A hunk of clay would not. (in fact, it would probably make the lock extremely difficult to pick/use.)

As for a way to make some picks out of household items, I've seen some paperclip picks, but they are difficult to make and use.

I've also seen pics of someone who heated up the end of some wire, hammered the end flat, and then grinded it into a pick shape.

I'd recommend getting a template and grinding a set out of carbon steel hacksaw blades. You probably won't have much luck with anything else.

Cheers

you can look on youtube to get demonstrations on how to pick most basic padlocks with pieces of wire (eg. paper clips) , thats how i learnt, but it depends on what kinda lock u got.. i have only ever been able to open padlocks. but it depends how good you are and weather you know what you are doing

some lock for example the one most schools have on the lockers you can just hit or kick open. Once when i was bathing i forgot the key in my pocket inside my locker so i turned it upside down so it stayed there and then punched with the lower part of my palm on it so it broke. most looks are very easy to break because the iron not so tough. just do this method on small lock so you don't hurt your hand XD

what the hell?

ok.. go to "the local art store" buy some clay.. try what you just said. then come beck and tell everyone if it worked or not..

even if u did get the clay in.. the pins would hold it there and it would break trying to yank it out..
