all billie joe can play is power chords, the drums are as simple as most punk music, and the bass, well Mike is pretty good, not the best but still good.

Wasn't the 90's all about the grunge movement? Like Nirvana and such? Punk seemed to be earlier than that.

I don't consider it that. I consider it a form of rock. That's usually why people call it "grunge rock." Sort of like Alternative and such.
Also, I'm not really into punk music. Green Day was good (key word 'was') but I have to agree with Superfly. They're more pop now.
