i have no problem with hunting, since we have eliminated many natural enemies of deer and the like, they would starve anyway. i will still not eat the meat though, mainly because i stand by my vegetarianism, not b/c i really disagree with it.
but if eating animals is what we're meant to do, but we can live without meat (as i do) and we have the ability to reason (supposedly) unlike other animals....then...why do we still eat them anywya? shouldnt we be smart enough to know that killing is wrong? thou shalt not kill, when did we become the wolves and not the shepards?

first of all, the Germans didn't just accept HItler out of mere desperation...no, 90% of it was out of his sheer speaking skills...Just imagine being there, the power he must of conveyed through words alone! If he could verbally manipulate an entire country to kill over 12 million people through words alone, imagine what kind of ability he must of had.
Second of all, I am against inhumane killing fo animals, but feel since the majority of the world eats meat, then we cannot stop eating meat. I rather wish we still had to hunt for our meals...At least then the prey would have a chance to get away...and then think...obesity would be halved because we'd have to hunt for our own meals....fat? Hungry? Get up off you ass and go hunting...."see you in a few days! Im off to get food for my family..." not just a trip to the grocery store.
and finally, I am a hedonist, too....But not for the end of days...I couldn't care less. I just enjoy the lifestyle of freedom.

Not everyone that works in a slaughterhouse likes their job - some only do it to pay the bills and because it is a necessary job that is required to in order to eat meat.

Don't get me wrong. I love my steak, but some people don't kill the animals in a "humane" way and thusly I don't buy from them and buy from farms that do kill the animals in a "humane" way.

Killing is wrong... but we all must die at some point in our lives. We are not immortal. Yes we can live and not eat animals, but that does not mean that it is wrong to eat that which must die anyways. If we were to let all the cattle and all the chickens go free, they would die. The only reason that they are still alive is because of us.

Not saying that factory farm chickens are good, because they are an abomination. Raising cattle for leather and meat, is justified, as we need the clothes and food, but only if they are treated correctly.

It can be. If you did not know/forgot that he is allergic to them, then it would be a nice thing to do. If you know that the cookie will cause him harm, then no.

That's pretty much just the USA. Go to almost any other country and you can get health insurance regardless of which medical conditions you have. (watch Sicko for proof if you do not wish to travel).

~shakes head~ You've been watching Fight Club too literarily. What this was supposed to mean is "Don't bother being perfect, it's a fools quest to think that you can be "perfect". Just be who you are and try to make yourself the best that you can possibly be."

Just because we cannot become truly equal (which on a long enough timeline you can come close enough to call it equality, even though we will probably die out before that) that does not mean that we should not bother trying to treat each other as equals.

Less than half of the Germans actually voted for Hitler and most of the ones that did vote for Hitler were blind-sided by his true intentions. They only voted for him because he burned down the German parliament building (blaming it on his opponents) and because he was the only one that offered the people a solution. He (narrowly) passed laws that would make it so that the minority government (the government with more votes than the other groups [3-5 other main ones]) could pass any law they wanted. Not only that, but after Hitler passed those laws, he almost lost his seat of power. After that, he used fear to guide the hand on who to vote by using Gobbels to indoctrinate the masses.

This just contradicts half of your first paragraph's argument.

If you like meat, and eating meat makes you happy, then why care about the cows or chickens? Why not just say "fuck them" and eat what ever the fuck you want? Same thing goes with smoking, saving the world, giving a shit about the environment, ect.

The main reason that there is going to be a WWIII and the reason why we are ass-raping our environment is because we are saying "Fuck them, I'm going to do what I want." You want to know what the catalyst is?

louied, it would be nice if we could implement that (the hunting - I would actually love it), but we have killed all sentience in animals and the ones that actually can survive on their own are few in numbers.

Not only that, but 90%+ of humans would die off within a year. (not saying that this is a bad thing necessarily) but we would still be fucked because unless we fix the world (and it is still possible if we devote everything to the cause) the world will die (well most animals and plants, some may still survive).

I agree with a lot of what Sionyx had to say.

We don't always kill animals inhumanely. People have to eat, anyway. You choose to be a vegetarian, I choose not to be. Also, there are lots of things you get from meat that you can't get from too many non-meat products. So while you can survive while being a vegetarian, it doesn't always mean that you're that healthy.

I do know that you made the point about the electoral college out-weighing the popular vote. That is changing. I've actually seen it on the news. Some states have already made it so that the popular vote is the deciding factor, and they said that other states are following in those footsteps too. So that's changing.
