Someone sent me this in an email, and I thought it was interesting, so I'm going to post it here and see what the public thinks. This in no way conveys my thoughts or feelings, so please don't harass me for my post, but tell me your thoughts on the subject.


Proud To Be White




Someone finally said it.



How many are actually paying attention to this?

There are African Americans,

Mexican Americans,

Asian Americans,

Arab Americans,

Native Americans, etc.

...And then there are just -

Americans.



You pass me on the street

And sneer in my direction.

You Call me 'White boy,'

'Cracker,' 'Honkey,'

'Whitey,' 'Caveman,'

... And that's OK.



But when I call you Nigger,

Kike, Towel head,

Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey,

Beaner, Spick, Gook, or Chink

... You call me a racist.



You say that whites commit a lot

Of violence against you,

So why are the ghettos the most

Dangerous places to live?



You have the United Negro College Fund.

You have Martin Luther King Day.

You have Black History Month.

You have Cesar Chavez Day.

You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.

You Have Yom Hashoah.

You have the NAACP.

And you have BET.



If we had WET

(White Entertainment Television)

... We'd be racists.



If we had a White Pride Day

..... You would call us racists.



If we had White History Month

... We'd be racists.



If we had any organization for only whites

To 'advance' OUR lives .

... We'd be racists.



We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,

A Black Chamber of Commerce,

And then we just have the plain

Chamber of Commerce.

Wonder who pays for that?



If we had a college fund that only gave

White students scholarships

... You know we'd be racists.



There are over 60 openly-proclaimed

Black-only Colleges in the US ,

Yet if t here were 'White-only Colleges'

... THAT would be a racist college.



In the Million Man March,

You believed that you were

Marching for your race and rights.

If we marched for our race and rights,

... You would call us racists.



You are proud to be black,

Brown, yellow and orange,

And you're not afraid to announce it.

But when we announce our white pride



... You call us racists.



You rob us,

Carjack us,

And shoot at us.

But, when a white police officer

Shoots a black gang member

Or beats up a black drug-dealer

Who is running from the LAW and

Posing a threat to ALL of society

... You call him a racist..



I am proud.

... But, you call me a racist.



Why is it that only

Whites

Can be racist?

There are some inconsistencies in it, but it does bring up some interesting thoughts. Like .../\

agreed. i've had all of these thioughts myself at one time or another.

its true. but blacks are still mistreated socially and such. but i am proud to be white

Oh boy

So we should go back and add in our racists views to even out the racism? Good one.


This is silly. MLK is a great man. We have days for white men. Way more days for white men.

Which I think is offensive to the African Americans. Why limit it to one month? What have we honestly learned about African Americans in our schools?


And for a good reason



Why?


I don't know anyone who's saying this.

well first of all this doesn't mean we should add in our own, just pointing out that when a non-caucasion says something that could be considered racist, they for the most part won't get called on it when a caucasion would get called out on it.

Then why don't you think it's offensive that there isn't a white history month or something of the like, just as many famous white historians that we don't have a whole month devoted to

Well, it says "When we call you..." Blah blah blah, the guy who wrote this is a whiner. He's basically saying "If you say racial things about us, let us say it about you. When it should really be, there should be NO racial slurs. And, honestly, I hear the N word way more than any other slur.


No, I would be offended if there was a white history month.


It is important to remember all the people of the civil rights moment, but I think that having a month of history where you really don't do anything is pathetic.

Basically, Black history is history. It's my history as a white woman, because it's American history. Fuck having it for a month. I see this only as a barrier to ending racism in America. Why are we calling people "black" and "white" etc, we're people, history is history.

The whole point of this isn't to pick out one little section and reply to it. It's basically saying that non-white people usually think that ONLY white people can be racist (I've heard people say that before, and I always correct them and say that any race can be racist against any race.) It's also pointing out that when white people do things that every other race does, they're considered racist for it. It doesn't matter if they really are or not, people just assume that they are.
