Question new jersey knife laws

I have searched a nhumber of places on the internet but cannot find a concrete answer about carrying a knife in new jersey. I know that switchblades and "gravity knives" are illegal, but what about regular folding knives? I've heard there are blade and total length restrictions but again, I can't actually find it anywhere reliable. Can anyone help? Please post sources as well as answers.

you are either really retarded or you fail at using google, which also means you are retarded.

first hit that came up on google under "new jersey knife laws" was a link to that would tell you all of the knife laws in every state, including new jersey, you imbecile. I would post a link to the specific site, but i doubt you would read it even if i gave it to you.

basically it says the law views carrying any knife in jersey as illegal unless you have an explainable lawful purpose. there really isn't a concrete answer.

thank you crazymetalhead for confirming that there isn't a CONCRETEanswer. Sionyx, since you're obviously such a god damned genius, maybe you can actually explain to my retarded mind the types of knives and lengths of the blades that are legal to carry. Also, I see you have earned the great honor of "Sober santa champion" which shows that you have no fucking life to speak of, so don't be a douche.

first off, there is the matter of

Quote:
"I see you have earned the great honor of "Sober santa champion" which shows that you have no fucking life to speak of,"
it took me a grand total of 3 tries and 10 minutes to get that. it actually took me much longer to get the title "Cricket Challenge Champion". I have a life, which is actually crippled by my 50 hour work weeks, and yet still I have time to go see movies, got to the bar, hang out with friend, ect.

thank you crazymetalhead for confirming that there isn't a CONCRETEanswer.
actually the laws are quite well defined, especially where i told you to go.

From the link I said to go in the first fucking paragraph:
Any person who knowingly has in his
possession any gravity knife, switchblade knife, dagger,
dirk, stiletto, billy, blackjack, metal knuckle, sandclub,
slingshot, cestus or similar leather band studded with
metal filings or razor blades imbedded in wood, ballistic
knife, without any explainable lawful purpose, is guilty
of a crime of the fourth degree.

what this means is the following types of knives are illegal to carry without a damn good reason:

gravity knives
switchblades
daggers
dirks
stilettos
anything with razor blades imbedded into it
ballistic knives

the law defines gravity knives as:
"Gravity knife" means any knife which has a
blade which is released from the handle or sheath thereof
by the force of gravity or the application of centrifugal
force

this means that that if you can release the blade of the knife with only centrifugal or gravitational, it is classified as a gravity knife

the law defines switchblades as:
"Switchblade knife" means any knife or similar
device which has blade which opens automatically by hand
pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in
the handle of the knife

this means if you have to press a button to release the spring loaded knife, it is classified as a switchblade.

the law defines ballistic knives as:
"Ballistic knife" means any
weapon or other device capable of lethal use and which can
propel a knife blade.

this means that if the blade is propelled by gas, electric motor, ect., it is classified as a ballistics knife.

and this:
Any person who manufactures, causes to
be manufactured, transports, ships, sells or disposes of
any weapon including gravity knives, switchblade knives,
daggers, dirks, stilettos... is guilty of a crime of the
fourth degree.

means that if you make, transport, ship or destroy any of the illegal weapons, you are guilty in the 4th degree.

as for length:
Any person who sells any hunting, fishing,
combat or survival knife having a blade length of five
inches or more or an overall length of 10 inches or more
to a person under 18 years of age commits a crime of the
fourth degree...

this means that the blade must be less than 5 inches and the entire extended knife must be less than 10 inches. also, you can't sell to any minors.

also:
"Concealment was not a necessary element of the offense of
carrying a dangerous knife."

this means that regardless of if the knife is concealed, you can still be charged.

-You probably hindered by your retarded mind to reading the entirety of this post, so I guess my explanations are in vein.
-I would take this to the biggest longest thread, but it's still on the topic of explaining the laws of new jersey in case anyone is still interested or for future reference.
