I always though a pretty terrible way or torture would be to pull off someones finger nails and toe nails and stab toothpicks through them multiple times. Then rip them out really fast so that you get splinters. Although this wouldn't kill you, it would hurt like hell.

Another way is to strap the victim down and drop one single drop of water on their forehead every 3 seconds or so. It'll make them go crazy
