So i think ive come up with pretty good god damn idea.

Since you guys are by far "the" smartest people i can turn too, ive come to you for advice and hopfully help with this project(if it will work).

You know those toy cars that you put on a surface pull backwards then they take off, well i was thinkin i could use the same idea with my pedal bike.

So heres what i'm figuring. Just like with a dirtbike you can pull in the clutch and itll jus rev up and not increase in speed, We'll, what im looking to do is make is so that i could pull a clutch or something that would cause the crank on my bike to either pedal forward or backward [the same way that a toy car would "wind up"], and then release the energy, but still be able to be able to pedal regularly with the release of the "clutch".

These are things that i would hopfully like it to have:
*Ability to make the release of the energy slower[so that my bike would coast, and maintain a high speed for much longer], or higher [so that it would make it so all i would have to do is pedal a couple of times and go from little velocity too a good pace]
*Simple "clutch" preferably on the handlebars.
*Brakes that wouldnt have any issues with the release of energy.

If you have any suggestions or instructions of how i might go about doing this. or just about anything. Please and Thank you

That sounds like an expensive novelty. you'd be better off buying or making an eletric bicycle

actually no....he is on to a fuckin brilliant idea, he just doesn't realise that his idea has nothing to do with what is product would be.

neat idea but not cost efficient to produce and most definitially not safe. id just go with an electric assist bike and a solar panel

The answer is "No" unless you are willing to waste a lot of money/effort to make your bike completely retarded.

in can see you pulling out of your driveway with an optimistic grin on your face then engaging your clutch release system only to be shot backwards into a wall for assembling your contraption the wrong way round

the winding would require an input of potential energy. to input this energy and release as kinetic, exchange values would subtract from the overall power and force a greater effort force to be created. This idea will only add weight and make this harder.

BTW do you even know how a clutch works?
