Time for a flash of perspective. The original idea was that the government will outlaw guns and somehow justify a revolution. Do you honestly expect a SWAT team to bust down your door at 2 in the morning and physically take away all of your guns? Explain this to me. The secondary idea was for a bunch of grassroots militias to spring up across the entire country. Having seen the fact that the opinions on this thread are about 50/50, can you really anticipate anything but a bloody and useless civil war? That opinion split is among people who post on ANARCHIST'S COOKBOOK, for fucks sake. Can you imagine what the general population would think? Furthermore, I have yet to hear an actual reason to do all this crap, as opposed to leaving the country. If you say "because I love America", I have to point out that you are trying to bring down the government of "America". What exactly do you love? The dirt itself? I can't imagine it's worth fighting one of the world's most stable governments for. I think the conservative half of this debate would do very well in, for example, Somalia: Grassroots militias rule everything there, and people kill other people just because they can. 1: There is no evidence that they would take away your guns. The 500% tax increase was back when he was a senator in the NINETIES, and never repeated. As well, who do you suppose makes the guns that the government uses? they certainly may outsource some labour, but i assure you, there are enough gun factories in this country that if the US government tried to enact martial law, they'd have a pretty hard time. as well, where do you suppose the troops are gonna get food for this attack? certainly, no other nation in the world is gonna support us, when we're attacking ourselves, that's the kind of thing that gets you embargoed. an attack on this nation, by this nation is not believable. if you want to turn it into a dictatorship, the only logical way to do it at this time period (and any nearby time period), would be to have the majority AGREE with you being dictator. a 48/52 split popular vote doesnt really constitute a proper majority.

2: i agree, taking away the right to bare arms would be a great encroachment on the constitution. it certainly isnt the first, tho, and i dont see you trying to stop the others, so this is a moot point for you.

3: there is no threat from within, you fucking idiot. unless you go and start a riot, you're perfectly safe, and the government is not going to attack you.
