The problem with a military controlled government is that when any type of protest breaks out it is most often met with brute force. The reason for this is that if the military government were to let the protest continue it would give the populous the sense that the government has lost its power and is weak, so they could build up the courage to start a revolution to overthrow the government; which is what will probably happen in Burma anyway, and I think it would be best if it does. And concerning the U.S. involvement we have literally cut ourselves completely off from Burma economically, but we don't need another war at the time being so we are keeping out of it militarily for now.
