Aren't we lucky to live America!

When I read the small article (below) I automatically said to myself "dude you are one lucky guy". I hope you feel the same if you live in the USA.

Court Orders French Web Site To Stop Rating Teachers

Teachers, unions pleased with ruling

A Web site in France that allowed students to anonymously rate and name their teachers has been ordered by a court to no longer allow the practice.

Teachers unions with the backing of the education ministry took the site to court, saying the personal comments were a breach of privacy and an "incitement to public disorder." The site note2be.com was created in January by French entrepreneurs, allowed students to rate and discuss their teacher's abilities.

The judges in the case took the side of the teachers and said the Web site could no longer rate teachers by their names and any violation would require the sites owners to pay a $1,520 (1,000 euro) fine.

"This is an astonishing and surprising decision that has worrying implications for the development of the Web," said Stephane Cola, who co-founded the site, Reuters reported. "The ranking and evaluation of professionals on the Web is a fundamental principle and a primary motor of the Internet around the world," he told reporters after the verdict.

The teachers unions praised the verdict. "We are totally satisfied by this ruling," said Francis Berguin, the head of the SNES teachers' union. "It is not up to pupils to mark their own teachers and certainly not on a commercial Web site," he told LCI news channel.

Note2be.com allowed students to rate their teachers in six areas including, how interesting, clear, fair, available, respectful and motivated they were. It also featured a ranking system to reward France's top 10 teachers.

Education Minister Xavier Darcos voiced approval of the court verdict saying he," totally supported teachers whose difficult mission will not be the object of anonymous attacks on the Internet".

Yes the politicians we have in the government are nothing but a bunch of dishonest pieces of shit. And the handful that are honest are scared to do anything. But this still is the greatest country on the planet.

So what do we do? Do we just sit on our asses and watch one of the idiots running for President get elected and ruin this country or do we revolt?

I say we all put our money in and buy an island. Then we form a government that is truly by the people for the people. The only laws that we will have will be the Ten Commandments. Now I know some of you Anti-Christs will not agree with the idea. But I say if everyone on this planet lived by only these 10 simple laws we wouldn't even have this thread or this forum for that matter.

Really the only thing we can do is sit on our asses. They protect us and no wars have been fought over here. Thats more than we can ask for. So they take a few billion dollars from people and put it into the war and tests and have doubled the prison population in 6 years and over half of those ae minor drug offenders that they only put in jail to make money. But wattaya ganna do?

ps Bill Gates should just buy a little island.

pps or do what the one guy on ripleys did and built/live on his own island of water bottles.

Whatever happened to the good ol' days when we were all running around in animal skins stabbing tigers and lions and elephants with spears, and cooking them?

It makes me puke as to what the world has come to. Simple practices that show any sign of "disobedience" or "unruliness" is almost automatically put down. For something as simple as "rating you teachers" to be put down by a FREAKING COURT from a STUPID "UNION" simply shows how scared the ones with power are scared of the people. They don't want you to say anything bad about them. They want THEIR ideas and ideology put into play around every corner.

Something as simple as rating your teachers is minute and silly and has about as many shits and giggles as a game of Jenga or Monopoly, Or from an internet perspective any of those lame little applets on Facebook.

There are plenty of sites like this in the US, the American Government wouldn't dare pull anything like that, as it would be Unconstitutional.

Most European countries nowadays have absolutely no natural right to Freedom of Speech. I lived in Germany for a while, and they have no right to Freedom of Speech, but do have a right to six weeks paid vacation.

When the majority are unaware of our consistently slipping rights, of our descent into Nanny-State Fascism, and allow it to happen, a revolt can be the only solution.

I'm not too sure i would take six months paid vacation over freedom of speech, however, since the people of the world's right of freedom of speech is being undermined gradually every day, whats the point? screw it, I'll just move to Germany.

Get involved in our government? Right. Even if you somehow had the money and support to even become a state congressman, there's no way your "revolutionary" ideas would be accepted in any higher branches of government. What it takes is a collective effort, for thousands of people to realize our liberties are being infringed upon, and take action.

Expensive though, at least in Germany and Switzerland. Although much of their food is good, there is too much meat for my taste (I'm 90% Vegetarian). And their fruits/vegetables are pesticide-covered, just like they are here in the US.

Very true. Turkey has some of the most expensive gas in the world (or at least it did when I was there last year). Right now, average gas prices in Europe fluctuate between $5-$7 USD.
