you know, i dont think you know what you're talking about...plus, it's knoppix, and an experienced linux user, as you claim yourself to be, would probably have switched to debian, it's more powerful, ubuntu is just a simplified version of it any way.....the only REAL benefits to ubuntu are synaptic(which you could install on debian, and i never use any way), and the ubuntu forums, and once you have enough experience, you dont really even need the forums....im only using ubuntu because ive managed to get my family used to it.....

I've been messing around with linux for a good two years now. Far from a noob but i would never put myself in the 1337 category. IMO Linux is a great OS, trouble shooting may be a little harder to do that on windows, but in the end the user always ends up knowing more about their machine. Using Linux will definitely force a user to become more in tune with whats actually happening with their box. I currently have Slackware on one box, and yesterday i just installed ZenWalk on the other. But yea those are just my views. LINUX FTW

Okay guys... Here's something you might not have heard of... It's called Puppy Linux, and it's the FASTEST and SMALLEST Linux distro out there... I converted from Ubuntu (which goes to show I like Puppy Linux better) . . . Don't be mislead by the name... It's seriously powerful and I'm running it off of a flash drive right now. You can install it from your hard drive to a camera's memory stick... And run it off of em...

THIS IS WHERE IT'S AT.

It's highly customizable and includes EVERYTHING you'll need. The only other things I've added are themes and whatnot...

Here's a screenshot of a Puppy Linux desktop:

This is what my desktop looks like, although this is not my picture:

One last screenshot:

Hope you like it!

p.s. Sorry for the bad quality screenshots, they're jpgs.

Puppy Linux? That is that crappy version that is suposed to boot from a flash drive but never works..... Use fedora.... it is powerful, it uses Anaconda to install (a hell of alot easier than debian) and comes with XFCE, KDE and GNOME pre-installed.... that's what i use, and i've never had a problem....
