No, that's wrong. Regular Ubuntu uses a GNOME kernel. Kubuntu uses a KDE kernel. Read the site. It says that under "Kubuntu."

There is only one Linux Kernel. It is made and maintained by Linux Tarvalds and a handful of developers. Every distribution of Linux uses a version of the Linux Kernel. The main difference between Ubuntu and Kubuntu, is the fact that one uses GNOME and the other uses KDE. Neither are versions of the Linux Kernel.

GNOME: GNU Object Model Environment
KDE: K Desktop Environment

where in either of those names is there mention of an independent Linux Kernel? .. no where.

Lol... there is only one linux kernel... if you really wanted you could use Hurd, but that is pretty pointless as it is not (and never will be) complete....

i can say that because Slowz is rarely wrong when it comes to Linux.

Yeah, I've read past threads with slowz in them that were deleted by Cuddles (hah, that's ironic that you just posted). He's usually right. We could get into a technicality battle over what I said, you said, and slowz said, but that would get us nowhere. So anyway...
