Power outtage.

Funnyish story, I have an aquarium with a horseshoe crab in it. My sister is on my comp., and her son knocks the lid off the aquarium and into the aquarium the lid has light sockets on the top and is plugged in. This knocks the power out and when I get home my desktop looks like the attachment.

I ran a scan of bad sectors by going through the C drive properties and also managed to get to the control panel and run a system restore..both changed nothing, does anyone have a suggestion that isn't killing, or getting rid of all my files and restoring my whole system?

Edit: the attachment shows how my desktop is nothing but black I can't right click or anything, and luckily my documents is open up right when the computer starts so I can manage to get to my files, with a little inconvenience.

Edit:: Ok I realized that windows explorer wasn't running so I found it and ran it and everything was back to normal, but I restarted and windows explorer won't run on start up so how can I get it to do this?
