i came across one of those credit/debit card scanners at my local thrift store. can this be used for anything? would it be possible to put money on a gift card and then use it at a store.(i think that would be safer than credit cards)

it could be used only if you can convince some poor dumbass to swipe their card through it, or do it when they aren't looking. oh, and no. I dont think that you can add money to a card with it. If you could, it would take a very sophisticated copy or actual system from the store ur trying to con. And then, you would need to somehow let the network of that store that the card is activated. Really dirty work to TRY and get it to work, but it probably wont.
