Intercepting video feed

It's the best way I could word it. We've all seen it in the movies before I am, Ocean's 11, National Treasurer, are good examples. Some guy walks up to some cords, messes around with, and is able to see the feed from else where. So my question is. Is it done like how they are doing it? Or some other way.

And no I am not talking about watching street cams by googling some little url. I've tried googling this, and that's about all I could get.

Any input?

Well, theoretically, if you intercepted the circuit, and redirected it to a modem that broadcasted the feed to a website, you pick up the feed from anywhere.

How you could go about actually doing that would take some thought. The only ways I've thought of would take a lot of equipment. Maybe someone else can help me out here.

thats basically the only way you would either have to be at one or the other end of the ports to set up a router with a way to broadcast an iPhone would do or any phone that you could tether the network and then access it off the site that the phone sent it to wouldnt really be live, or if you couldn't get to different end of the wires you would to do some saudering and would still need a router. There is some high tech equipment that could be placed on the end wire that would basically send the feed to a nice white police van outside but the first method is the only way to do it with household equipment that could to my mind.

So how exactly would you go about doing that?

That's the trick, ain't it? My best guess is to cut the wire, take the cord and mount an S video head onto it, plug it into a laptop with a video encoder installed. Then you simply go to the link from any Windows Media Player and watch live footage.
