I haven't had vista for all that long and I've googled for fixes to the problem for awhile now, didn't think ask in here until now.

Every single time that I download something after it gets nearly done it will start veryifying whatever it is that I am downloading. I have waited forever and sometimes it never even finishes and I just end up having to use task manager to get it off because the options to exit out of it are greyed out.

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a way to maybe stop it from verifying (unless it has to) or just fix it.

Note: I am not downloading in a share program just straight off the net.

Edit: I have found a way to bypass it by saving the file to my desktop instead of just opening it, but when I do that it says copying file over and then that window goes to not responding status, but the file does get put on the desktop. I would still like ways to fix this.

if it locks up on you when you try to hit continue, then you've got an issue with your ram being blocked up(essentially not enough room to complete the job). what are you running 512?!

OR just uninstall Vista LOL. If your using IE7, just install mozilla, just run and install instead of downloading to your computer. IF that doesn't work, get a friend to download it to a pen drive. After using Firefix and you still having that problem, then yes you are screwed my friend
