I wrote this a while back after getting banned permanently banned from my school computers for doing this.

1) Go to www.ubuntu.com and order a free copy of Ubuntu
2) Turn the computer on, insert the disk containing Ubuntu then reboot and press F12 repeatedly
3) It will go to the Ubuntu boot screen. Select the top option.
4) When Ubuntu has started, go into Places>Computer>Local Disk>Windows>system32 and copy the folder labelled "config" onto your thumbdrive.
5) Go home and download a copy of LCP from http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/LCP/4-79440-1.html and install it.
6) Start LCP and go to Import>Import from SAM File... and browse to the config folder which has been saved on your thumbdrive, open the SAM file.
7) Below in the dialogue box, it has something about a system file. Press the little button next to the system file name box that has ... on it. Import the system file from the config folder.
8) Click OK
9) Go to Options>Brute Force Attack>Character Set. Change the character set to the set at the bottom of the list.
10) Click OK
11) Press F4 and watch your Administrator's password be revealed, hopefully within a matter of seconds.

that's actually not that bad of a technique... though, i'd have used Backtrack 2 and done the SAM crack while still in Linux. But that's just me =)

on a windows system no doubt... Linux is far superior to Windows in every aspect except when it comes to making virus ridden zombie machines... any decent "hacker" knows and loves Linux, use it and embrace it.

But I think this was meant for getting there in and out as fast as possible.

Will this mean that Ubuntu will be permanently installed on the original computer you used? Cause I think if school administrators saw that they might get suspicious.

No, ubuntu can be run straight from the cd, without installation.

Someone told me Ubuntu doesnt support NTFS, is this true?

ubuntu--the old editions--dont support native ntfs writing, but you can install support fairly easily, it was just because of an old kernel version, more recent versions (i think) do support ntfs write....you can read an ntfs file system with most distros

the new release (7.10) fully supports NTFS Read/Write .. and it can be run Live.

Knoppix also works for this. Knoppix also comes with versions specifically for hacking.
