Changing my IP

I searched through the threads and found a post that didn't explain how to do this step by step. So here it is again. Reason being that I'm trying to get a game hack program running that requires the changing of the IP.

you go into your network connection. right click, go to properties, in the list you see click tcp/ip and click properties. then click the radio button that says "use the following IP address" and configure as needed.

or did you mean you needed something that masks your IP as needed when you go out on the web. in which case use a proxy. or a nat program.

what operating system are you using? and how on gods green earth do you expect to be able to use a "game hack program" if you dont even know the basics of computers? and dont tell me you do because changing your IP is fairly basic... i mean.. all you had to do was google this shit. stop being so lazy.

you're probably going to have to contact your ISP to change your IP address that the internet sees. NAT wont' change your IP.

no NAT will mask it when you are on the net. i dont see why any program would hve him change his IP so im assuming he needs to hide it.

Well.. NAT doesn't actually mask or hide anything (specially on a network with only a few computers...), it was designed to allow companys (or homes) a way to conserve IPs by not using public addresses internally for every node on the network... using private addresses internally and using NAT or PAT to translate between the public and private addresses.. yeah.

But, like i said, he's going to have to contact his ISP to change his EXTERNAL/public IP... internally (assuming he's behind a router) he can set it to whatever he wants (as long as its a valid address on that network... of course..)

It really depends on his ISP and his setup. If he's behind a router, he'd have to unplug the router. If he's on Dial up, its probably already a dynamic address. Some ISP's like to assign dynamic addresses that seem to never expire (mine hasn't changed in... forever.)

I'm always behind a proxy, so I don't care. It says I live somewhere in Denver, Colorado :P.

I'm not behind a router, just a standard modem. No proxy either. I tried out what anti lou suggested and my question is do I just throw in a bunch of numbers and hope I get a connection? Also, when I threw in numbers in the IP address not only did it not work (surprise surprise) it also asked me for a subnet mask.

If theres a technique or somthing that I can use to get a working IP and /or subnet mask that would fantastic.
