A) not everyone has easy access to a chem hood.
B) unless your chem hood is extremely durable, the sodium will react with the air and blow up. Seeing as most chem hoods use glass, when the sodium reacts with the air and blows up, you will probably get a shit load of glass coming right at you.
C) making this shit is incredibly retarded. even if you make it and it does not blow up on you, there's less reactive explosives that are easier (and with the cost of making/getting a fume hood that can support the right conditions for it not blowing yourself up) and cheaper to make that will accomplish the same destructive potential.

If you are thinking of making this shit, please, do something else thats safer and more productive, like making nitroglycerin or reading a book. You getting glass embedded in your face, dying from chlorine poisoning, or your hands blown off will only serve as another case for when people try to put harsher penalties and more restrictions on making bombs.

Also, unless you're trying to perform certain organometallic reactions, there's no use for sodium.
