The Remington 870 is far more reliable and accurate system. It can be adapted to be mounted onto an M4 Carbine to form a MasterKey weapon. The 870 is undeniably the best shotgun ever made, hands down. I have 5 myself and have put thousands of rounds through each with no foul up or anything. They are the best.
*BlackZodiac I understand you position on the AK47. And for extened ranges the VSS-Vintorex is not capable of long ranges extending out further than
500 meters. A simple M44 can reach well over 1000 meters with execptional accuracy. While it is a silenced weapon, the round must also be a subsonic round so that no sonic signature is made from the actual slug while in transit to the target. The SVD is a solid weapon just like its cousin, the AK47. The VHS, in my personal opinion is not a very good weapon. Its design is good, but it just does not meet certain weapon standards that would make it a reliable and accurate weapon. As for the recoil advancements, the only issue I can forsee is the inevitable problem of a mis-loaded cart***** cause an over/under pressure in the gas system.

"A simple M44 can reach well over 1000 meters"
-I don't know what kind of M4 carbine you're talking about.
Caliber: 5.56mm NATO
Action: Gas operated, rotating bolt
Overall length: 838 mm (stock extended); 757 mm (stock fully collapsed)
Barrel length: 370 mm
Weight: 2.52 kg without magazine; 3.0 kg with magazine loaded with 30 rounds
Rate of fire: 700 - 950 rounds per minute
Maximum effective range: 360 m
The VHS is still a "prototype" as of right now and suppose to see production in 2008, rumors have it US police forces are going to be purchasing these bullpup rifles.
Ive been hearing its effective range is between 500-600m, but we will see when the final product comes out.
Here are some pictures of the VHS
