ok guys ive made black powder and smoke bombs before and im gonna try to make flash powder today and i was wondering if anyone knew where i could get potassium prechlorate or a product with alot of it in it and if i can also use substitutes for chemicals in the making of the flash powder (not pure potassium prechlorate) and also german dark aluminum powder or any aluminum powders for that instance im thinking home hard ware for that....

All you need is any oxidizer and a metal. The walkthrough you read suggested one of the best mixes (potassium perchlorate[70%] and aluminum[30%]). The most common oxidizer is, of course, potassium nitrate, which you have. Grind KNO3 and aluminum foil from you kitchen to the finest powder you can make, 400+ mesh preferably. Mix and viola.

That would be near impossible to light though. Use magnesium powder insread. Dont grind em together its not like BP it will ignite from friction.

thats the same question i was asking u can get it on the internet but u can get saltpeter at home depot as stump remover and get magnesium from epson salt and they have that at a grocery store

k well guys i went to rona and lyons today and no aluminum powder and they no longer sell kno3 as salt peter at the ida or drug store anymore.... any suggestions here??
