Sulfur trioxide is a poisonous gas.

It can be produced by catalytic oxidation of sulfu DIoxide with vanadium pentoxide, or certain vanadium amides.

The reaction would look something like this:

S + O2 => SO2
2SO2 + O2 =vanadium cataylys=> 2SO3

Bubble the SO3 through concentrated H2SO4 and you get oleum.

Or bubble through water and get super amounts of heat and vaporized H2SO4.

Yea well i kinda understand the balancing of equations. But basically what i want to do is simple. I want to show my lil brother how to have fun with chemicals and fire.... :lol: anyways... i plan on mixing The Sulfur Trioxide (SO3)2 with Wood Flour and then adding water. My database says that it is a powder. Do you know where i could find it in powder form? And is it legal? I dont feel like pulling anything illegal for a couple of minutes of fun.

I´ve seen loads of retards make this mistake of thinking:

SO3 and H2O = H2SO4

Doesn´t work. Just get your sulfuric acid from car accumulators.

Of course it works.
But it generates so much heat that the water instantly boils spewing boiling, concentrated sulfuric acid everywhere.

SO3 is a gas, not a solid.
What is this (SO3)2 crap?
It's just SO3.

It produces H2SO4, but since you can´t actually do anything with the H2SO4, I consider it "not working".
