Buy a few 10 inch long thick rocket tubes about 1 1/2 inch wide and some plugs to cap the ends. Hammer a hole into the middle of the tube and tape it up. Now fill it with MUZZLE LOADING black powder which you can also Internet up for about 15 bucks. Hazmat required for shipping though... Use FedEx and your a rich dumbass. Plug one end and seal that bitch good, read the sticky on casings. Now pack it with the powder, use a 1 inch wide wooden stick to push it down hard, and add more etc. (You can get the sticks from hobby sections at ANY Wal-Mart.) Plug that end, remove the tape from the middle and add a fuse. Now you can do what you want to the outside, fingernail polish etc, then tape it up damn good all over with electrical tape and fingernail polish it again. Takes like 1 hour to make if your slow (Not including time for the plugs to dry w/ glue but you should prepare em beforehand.) This is considered a pipe bomb, and its very deadly and loud if close range to someone. I recommend a huge ass fuse. And since your new, tape it to the nozzle of a propane tank in a field (Use a 20 foot fuse and drive away like a mother fucker) Then get ready to go to jail if you get caught.

PS: IDK if that will set off a propane tank, dunno if it will be strong enough to burst off the nozzle and set the gas aflame. Plus its not really a good idea, just something for an extra bang since your new, it would probably be better just to make this alone it will be loud enough for you as it is. You can also use metal or PVC for this but they cause shrapnel that can fuck you up.. Not safe for someone your level to use.
