americium is a transuranic element meaning it has to be man made with a nuclear reactor and a lot of other radioactive elements. so what is your source? it has a critical mass of 60kg (which is a fucking lot), so thats going to be one massive bomb, plutonium or uranium would be far more effective and efficient. also, why the fuck are you trying to make a nuclear weapon?

So I don't know what the fuck your thinking. oh, and you can lower the critical mass of a substance by making it more spherical, also adding a neutron reflector casing, such as the common element beryllium will further decrease the mass needed for critical mass. And seeing as I know for a fact that you used wikipedia, if you go down one more subcategory, it tells you the applications, in which it already explains that americium is used in smoke detectors. I was just listing the easiest way to get it, not the best. Their is a major glass manufacturer in Detroit, Michigan who has a permit for Americium, because it is used to measure the flat-ness of glass. Americium is also used in xray machines.
But seriously, look on the label of your smoke detector and find the company headquarters, steal some americium. If your going to blow up a city, stealing material isn't that bad... Or you could just go to russia and buy some.

I think it's funny that you edit your posts as I prove you wrong. Anyways, I found out how, you need a centrifuge, a very high tech one. And my question was never how do I bomb a city. My question was how do you purify americium, luckily, my chemistry teacher found out for me.
