Oxygen combines with a fuel creating an exothermic reaction. When you stick a match by propane the heat acts as a catalyst speeding up the reaction resulting in an exothermic reaction. When you heat a solid it turns to liquid heat it more and it turns to gas heat it more and it gains enough energy to combine with oxygen. If what you are saying is true then O2 will combine with more O2 creating enough energy to substane itself. Not gonna happen. Although with a highvoltage of DC current passing through the air O3 or ozone is created. All gases dont burn many gases such as helium, carbon dioxide, oxygen do not react exothermically with oxygen or chlorine.

I have an experiment for you all: take manganese dioxide from a battery add that to hydrogen peroxide it will fizzle. do the reaction in a glass flask, bottle, w.e. The resulting gas is pure oxygen. take a burning stick and put it in the vessle with the oxygen. Does the oxygen explode? No the stick burns with a very bright flame that is very hot.
perhaps everything doesnt combust with oxygen, but we do not know that at some point it wont...anything under the right pressure and heat will combine with surrounding elements, altho some things peculiarly require less pressure to combine and will only combine at lower pressures.....

meh, thats all i have to say....

yes, but then why are oxygen tanks marked flammable? cuz they are a key component in fire, and an extremely common oxidant, and will oxidize almost everything........actually, you are perfectly right aboot Cl2 working too, i just remembered that from learning redox (reduction, oxydation) last year

wow...how everything i learned last year comes back at the end of this year i will never know....i cant remember this year till the end of next year, last year till the end of this year, et cetera....its annoying me...

wow...i dont even know what i just typed (for the most part), so time to just submit it as is....

oxygen bottles arnt marked flammable they are marked oxidiser with i believe a green or white flame. The bottle says will increase burning rate and spreading of fire.

yeah it says flammable cause it carries other bottles. usually oxygen bottles are a light green color they are highly pressurized up to and exceeding 3000 psi

no no...you ever seen one of those gas trucks that are just one big truck, no bottles, same thing they use for milk...its one of them, i have seen it many times, and it has the flammable gas sticker on the side, and it comes from an oxygen refinery...i assumed it was oxygen, now i assume it isnt.....how confuzzling....
