Thanks.

Now I just have to make some nitric acid. You can condense the vapors from heating a KNO3/sulfuric acid solution to get useful amounts of nitric acid, right? (got that off of google... Gotta make sure it's not bullshit)

No. I was just looking on the internet for one. You can't make one out of standard glass, can you? Doesn't it need to be special glassware for heating acids?

I had to explain to my mother how her plastic tupperware measuring cup chemically ***ted, and it had my fingerprints on it too! It wasn't noticeable until all the water had dried off.

Ah Thanks. So I can pretty much just use the glass jars I have lying around my house... I will, however, have to find some glass tubing.

i don't know if i would use a glass jar, i always use glassware made for heating and containing those chemicals, cause you will be dealing with strong acids, oh and don't heat the glass to fast of it could shatter(happened to me before)

Thanks for the advice, I'll check out some chemical glassware.
(And as for the shattering glass, I've had my share of accidents... Luckily none of those involved strong chemicals... So I know how to handle heating and cooling glass.)

nitroglycerin is a bitch to make, make rdx, its simpler and more stable. also alot safer to transport.

yah i would much rather prefer making rdx over nitroglycerin, quick question, when you are making nitroglycerin how do you get the nitrated glycerin out of the nitration mixture, does it float to the top and you just remove it with an eye dropper??
