Pure sodium explodes in water so have fun. It also burns through shit. Really good for school, cars, or just about anything you can think of.

Do you have any idea what temperature is involved to melt salt? You don't "heat it in a dish until it melts." You place it in a high-temperature refractory and blast it with an oxy torch until it melts, and hope you don't decompose your electrodes. Also, sodium does not magically "explode" in water, it steals the oxygen and liberates hydrogen, which can then be ignited. It also creates heat and may ignite on its own in ideal circumstances, but the chances of an explosion are practically nil in the quantites and conditions that you'd be able to come up with.

Yeah i was able to melt salt with a torch. Use sodium hydroxide in a stainless steel crucible don't use glass like i did.

I hope you realize that sodium can catch on fire from the water in the air.... if u leave it sitting around for even 2 minetes, it will explode.....

if you wanna keep it from exploding, put it in cooking oil. thats the best way to preserve it for long periods of time. but for all you dumbasses, dont wash it off afterwards
