Okay I just got back inside from trying my new expirement.
I tried "foxtailing" napalm. In case you don't know what foxtailing is, It's a game where (usually) you fill a long sock with something and swing it and throw for distance and accuracy. I'm good at both throwing techniques, and can accurately foxtail a sock with about tree rocks almost 120 feet.
So what I did was this. I took a tube sock (A new one, cause it holds better), cut off the toe (about one inch), I then took an old, weak, deep drinking glass, and filled it with a lot of napalm. Then I stuck the mouth end into the cut side of the sock. Finally, I wrapped duct tape around it twice. To make sure it held without flying off, I bounced it up and down; it held marvelously. Finally (this could be done first), I cut several small half inch hole around the base of the sock (for oxygen and lighting).
So, since i live far away from civilization, I went out into the old backroads, lit it, and swung it only once (so I didn't chance the glass coming undone), and released.
All I can say is that it basically flew about 50-60 feet, came down hard and fast, and shattered...A LOT. I could see a shit-ton of flaming glass shards go everywhere, and flames....lots of flames. I ran to the site and it was impressive...About a 20 foot blast radius, put shrapnel.

It works just like you said, cept mine flew WAY off target (due to wind resistance of the sock) and hit a large rock on the side of the road.

You're an idiot. Thermite is Iron Oxide and Aluminum at it's most basic. And it's not that flammable, since you either have to use a magnesium strip or thermite ignition powder to light it. It just burns really really hot.

I think you're thinking of when aliminium displaces iron from iron oxide.

No honestly I see I was wrong, thermite is aluminum powder mixed with pure iron oxide.

what did you do that for i wouldnt have wasted it on something stupid like that i would have used to make a fire line across the middle of a frequenlty used road
