For everybody asking how to ignite Thermite...

Thermite Ignition Mixture
chemical mixture
( powder )
As users of Thermite know, it is very difficult to get Thermite to ignite. Although it is possible to ignite it
with a propane torch or Magnesium ribbon, it does not always work, and can leave you frustrated.
Thermite can even be heated until it's red hot and still not ignite. Thermite Ignition Mixture produces the high temperature necessary to start the Thermite reaction. Thermite Ignition Mixture can itself be lit with a conventional fuse or electric igniter. Only a very small amount (usually 1/8 teaspoon) is required to ignite any size pile of Thermite. Bottle contains approximately 1 ounce of Thermite Ignition Mixture.
Shipped in a small poly bottle inside a metal can.

It's ten dollars for about 1 oz. of the igniter.

what bout a lighter, like could you get your hand back quick enough to keep from gettin roasted? Im guessing no, but i really dont wanna use electric starters, to electronic for me lol

so would a mag strips just be the way to go?

magnesium ribbon is the way to go. lighters dont work propperly, dont get hot enough, you'd probably have to use a blowtorche or a chemical mixture to make it light otherwise....

your best bet is like cuddles said magnessium ribbon its pretty cheap specially on ebay you could pick alot up from there like 75ft. for a small price

there are a couple of chemical reactions which are fairly cheap and create the heat necessary to ignite thermite, but i dont recall specifics....you'd have to look it up....

we always just used torches. but i wash wondering if with this new substance you could use a match (nice and easy) but i guess not
