Alright so I've been trying to synth AP for weeks now. Everytime I havent got crystals but rather a white cloud that forms at the bottom of the container. Whats happening here?

here's the recipe im using

120 ml %3 hydrogen peroxide
50 ml acetone
200 ml %9.5 HCl

your peroxide isn't concentrated enough. Try boiling it on a medium to low flame till it is 1/30th of its original volume. Then try the synth.

i'm fairly certain that ghost said something about how to make AP in one of his stickies. and i think he said 3 percent H202 works you just have to adjust the ratios to achieve the same amount of moles

i have been using concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and only in very small amounts

I use the shock chemicals for baquacil. go to a pool store and say that you need to get baquashock. Its thirty percent concentrated so you know that it is still safe to use with acetone without a contact explosion. I feel that this is safer that boiling hydrogen peroxide to get it concentrated because if you get too concentrated then there will be a cotact explosion between the acetone and the H2O2 which will put a bad spin on what could have been a good day.

At about sixty percent concentration there will be that cotact explosion, so boilers beware

3% should be fine. Your white cloud, by the sound of it, is a suspension of very fine AP xtals. Filter with a close-pore paper and recover with drying and washing.
