aluminum powder

I happen to have gotten a box of aluminum scraps from a friend of mine. i was thinking about melting it down into a block of some sort, shaving off small pieces and grinding it into powder. i was wondering if this would work for making aluminum powder and if it was worth it at all. could someone help me out with this?

If you are going to melt it down into a block, then use an angle grinder to grind what you need. Additional ball milling is necessary most of the time.

ok thanks. right now the scraps are fairly small somewhat like shavings. they were made from when my friend was drilling holes in an aluminum frame. i know it would be easier for me to just kinda break them into smaller pieces and then mill but would that even work?

Yeah that will work, but you might need to ball mill it for quite a bit if you don't use the angle grinder method.
