Aluminum Powder and Potassium Nitrate

Ive been looking around on Google and the ACB search, and I wanted to know if anything happened when you mixed Aluminum Powder and Potassium Nitrate and lit them ro ignited them some way.

I searched on Ebay and I saw that Aluminum powder does something when an oxidizer is around and thats what Potassium Nitrate is. So any thing?

Well, if you mix aluminum powder (Al) with potassium perchlorate (KClO4) you get what is known as flash powder, which if ignited makes a flash; thus the reason for the name flash powder. I myself have never tried Al/S/KNO3 flash powder, but I would think you would get the same reaction; the only difference I can think of would be that it wouldn't be as strong as Al/KClO4.

with this mix(50% potassium nitrate, 30% sulfur, 20% aluminum powder) you get a really slow burning flash powder
