Hey this is my first post, thought Id share some knowledge with you guys, so sorry if someone has posted this.

You will need a metal cylinder/tube, a thin piece of glass cut to the exact diameter of the metal tube, and potassium, (don't ask me where to get it look on ebay or soemthing), and some superglue, or a strong sealent (try to get something stronger than glue)

-Cut the metal cylinder/tube in half (use a blow torch or something, get creative)
-Use your sealent to seal the round glass piece inbetween the two halves.
-Fill one side with Potassium, you don't need a lot, probably a little less than half way. (mix other flammable things in there, like homemade napalm, or gasoline)
-Fill the other side completely with water. Water + Potassium = fire.
-Use your sealent to seal up any holes.
-When you throw it, the glass should break, which will mix the water, and potassium, building up pressure and making it go boom, and it will make a lot of fire.

Note: I'm sorry for this, but I wasn't 100% sure if it was pure potassium, or potassium nitrate. Please post which one it is if you have the answer.

a similar reaction, with easier to acquire materials (i would assume) is to mix potassium chlorate with sulfuric acid. however it would be more fun to make some sort of incidiary consisting of a little vial of H2S04 inside a jar of potassium chlorate. on second though i actually have no clue if that would work, and it would be kind of a waste of usefull chemicals. go try it haha.

and yeah, thats potassium. or sodium. both would work. maybe neither would work though. i wouldnt know, never messed with potassium before, i dont have easy access

And using potassium like this is wasteful and boring. it won't produce enough pressure to break the pipe, and potassium isn't particularly reactive anyway, in the overall scheme of things.

If you know how to use it, its pretty reactive... Also I did say to mix other explosives in there, and I meant a thin pipe, or pbc pipe or whatever. It's a ghetto bomb, but again, I said it's easy to make.

Phosphurous was discovered in 1669 by a German alchemist, Henning brandd, or Brandt, or some shit. At the time salt was valuable, and he tried distilling salts from uirne by evaporation. So, you know the process.

Tricky part; white/yellow phossy, same shit, has a fiant glow and is incredibly reactive with atmospheric oxygen. It is recommended to keep this shit under water as much as possible.

And, really, jsut throw a spontaneous(sp?) explosion catalyst in for a grenade if you're using WillyPete. I wouldn't do it, not my funeral. Let the military experts handle this level of shit unless you're an expert yourself.

Could potassium nitrate be used as a catalyst, starter, or anyhting useful besides slowing down certian chemical reactions?

KNO3 is best used as an oxidiser for black powder, smoke mix, some flash powders and other low explosives.
