god damn it! i just got done listening to "mother mary" by foxboro hot tub the greenday side progect and, god it made me want to bash my head of the desk. seriously greenday was good, for a pop punk band, but shit once they started with....... what was their last album, the rock opra one.. with the grenade heart? well w/e bands are going to hell.

take blink182 for example, a fantastic pop punk band following in the foorsteps of bands like the vandals and the dickies, but they went to shit when they came out with take off your pants and jacket, although a few really good songs did come out of that.

then you have sum 41 like blink a good pop punk band, but went to hell when they came out with chuck (how the fuck do i remeber that cd... i have it somewhere) ive heard their latest single... its okay.

SHIT FUCK even good charlotte was smei decent (even though they are the biggest posers ever OMG LIKE GAWD) when they first started out.. that song "the little things" was fun.

Korn is another example of a band that went to shit. see you on the other side just killed it for them.

system of a down too, really their best cd was their very first "system of a down" although toxicity was really good, but their last two cds were leading to a slipery slope.

but w/e atleast there are still some bands and artist who are still pumping out some really good shit after the years: tim armstrong, the mighty mighty bosstones, big d and the kids table, reel big fish, robby roadsteamer.

so yeah thats my little rant.

I'unno, someone said somethin about that to me the other day. they said, once bands get really famous, they go "pop." and then I added on, or just end up really crappy or break up. and he was like "that too."

but yeah, TBH, I didn't really like sum 41 too much. but "does this look infected" had some alright songs on it.

"take off your pants and jacket" was alright, not my fav. by Blink tho.

System of a Down is considered pop now, aren't they? (I heard something on the radio saying that they were, a long time ago.)

but, yeah... agreed...

Seriously I primarily like bands that pay no attention to genre label, the bands which do their own thing no matter what anyone thinks. I really hate this electronic, funky, groovy, I wanna dance crap! I like the good guitarists, and I am proud to call myself a metal-head!

No. System of a Down is amazing.

system of a down isn't even a band right now they're on hiatus so you don't need to defend them, serj is doing his own thing for the time being. system of a down did become popular but you can't really call them pop just because they had mainstream success. they didn't really sell out, people just bought the weird ass shit they were doing and loved it.

the reason for shitty music is the labels and all this "scene" bullshit, theres good music out there but you gotta find it, and for the most part you can forget about hearing anything good on the radio, and if u do they'll play it 3 times an hour everyday until you hate it. fuck the music business, bring back just music

The radio isn't necessarily bad, it's the radio stations. I get like 5 stations that play something besides Christian/country around here. 3 of those stations only play things like pop, rap, etc. 1 station is classic rock, and the other plays rock and heavy metal (it's a really good station, but I can only pick it up for about 5 minutes when I'm driving down the road.) If I got the rock/metal station at my house, chances are I wouldn't use my iPod because they play stuff I actually like.

i know exactly what you mean about music going to hell. a whole bunch of my friends thought it would blow peoples minds when they formed a 40 guitarist 5 drummer and 10 singer band...

they failed out of the talent show. like, the crowds rage almost manifested itself as a physical being.

Anything but SOAD. I despise them with the fiery passion of a thousand white dwarf suns. But double that hate for rap. also for pop.

I totally agree dude, I was almost in the process of writing something like this, only mine was based on how the 90's were kick fuckin' ass. I am very dissapointed in the way music has changed.
