okay... you're looking to start an arguement over this, cuz you think you're right? whatever, that's cool... what do they sing about? since you know sooo much about them... there is not ONE band that I have heard that didn't have a song about a breakup or some girl/guy, or another sad emotion. ALL MUSIC HAS SOME KIND OF EMOTION TO IT! what about KISS (not saying I like them)... or almost ANY other classic metal band, or classic band... they wear makeup... just because they wear makeup don't mean it's "emo" (which really isn't even a word or music genra at all, it's just made up).

oh and that comment, about how they walk and talk gayishly "emo." that's fine if you don't like thier style, whatever it ain't my choice. but have you ever noticed how gothic and "emo" are... THE SAME EXACT THING! there is no such thing as an "emo", it's just somehing that someone made-up. hmmm... emo's wear all black and talk about being sad and not caring about other things, etc... that's funny, because if you compare goth with emo, they are the exact same thing... people only say "emo" because either they don't know what it means and/or they like saying the word "emo."

*EDIT*
no, I'm not (your so called) "emo" or gothic or anything even close... I like a couple bands that people think is "emo." (even tho they aren't)
and my mood status is set as "lonley" because, it's just what it says... everyone has an ex that... well... you get the point. not only that, I have no one to hang out with because everyone else is at school...

Google it, dude. It's a music genre fom the mid- to late-90s.

Let's walk this through. You listen to emo bands, you are lonely, you dress gothic... YOU ARE FUCKING EMO.

you got way too worked up defending emo people if you arent emo,,and where did you bring up the goth,,from what i remember (my memory isnt great) nobody brought up goths,,get over it bro. who cares if those bands are emo, i have no fucking clue why you just flipped out about that.

fucking emo...

hah jussttt kiddingg dont get all emotional on me!!!

no, no... I know it's a genra... maybe i worded part of it wrong... but there is no such thing as an "emo" person... and besides... people get punk mixed up with "emo" all the time... gothic and emo are completely different. here are the differences. there is no such thing as an "emo" (person), but there is such thing as goth. and you've never seen me, you don't know how I dress or look. no I don't dress up in all black, and wear makeup and write depressing poems about how life sucks... and like I said... my mood is set to lonley, cuz I got no one to hang out with because they're in school, and I'm not... yet...you got way too worked up defending emo people if you arent emo,,and where did you bring up the goth,,
I'm not defending "emo people" my point was there is no such thing as an emo person... it's only a music genra. I brought up goth, because it's the same exact thing as an "emo" person... someone just made it up, there is no difference and it isn't a real kind of person... i just worded it kinda different then I meant to... it just pisses me off that everyone keeps saying emo and they don't even know what they're talking about when they say it. not only that, people over use it waaayyy to much. people think anything punk or anything that has any kind of emotion (even tho all music has some kind of emotion) or screaming in it, means it's "emo"... damn, just cuz they scream don't mean it's "emo", i've heard people say that slipknot is emo! bullshit. there is only a few bands that are actually emo that I can think of, ones that really are emo. not just cuz some kid thsat lives in his basement thinks so...

P.S. I like typing, so that's why my messages are long :D

Emo and goth are very very different.

Emo usually consists of skinny jeans, worn very very tightly, eyeliner, dyed black hair with the ocassional bit of blonde, across the eyes, short and messy in the back and a bit longer (chin lengh) in the front. Tight t-shirts, or striped long-sleeve shirts. Tight clothing in general. Black, thick rimmed glasses are typically considered to be emo, which is rather ridiculous, but still. I've yet to meet and emo kid without black rimmed glasses. Converse or vans etc for shoes. Not all black, but still quite a bit of black.

Goth: Baggier clothing, often with chains, trench coats, longer hair, usually black and possibly a second color such as red. Boots, studded/ spiked things, lots of chains etc. fingerless gloves, black nails. Very little color. Black. Never anything bright.

These are just very general statements... and yes, there is a difference.

okay... fine then. "emo" is just a goth, but missing the "non conformist" things. to me, there is no difference... yes, I've seen so called, "emo people" and I've seen goth, still no difference to me... but go ahead. think whatever you wanna think. I'm neither of those descriptions, so it don't matter. just sayin' that it's a music genra... just cuz someone listens to it doesn't make them that kind of person...

ok i will have to say MCR is a bit emo. LP is not, TBS, not so much. this is dumb. why does it matter what people say whether they are, or aren't? if you listen to them, are you going to stop just cause some one says they are emo? Just cause they say they are emo, and just wont stop saying they are emo, does that mean they are emo? Yeah this is so fucking dumb. And I dont know why i am even wasting so much time posting on this. SHIT. damn some people and their ignorance AMAZES me. well any ways.

yeah.... I didn't post this to argue about who's emo in the first place... go back to the fist post. I dunno, it just annoys me how everyone calls any actual band that isn't rap made in the past 5 years "emo". and if someone isn't feeling good or happy for one fuckin day, they're considered an emo. I didn't even try to start an arguement about this anyways, I was just posting some competition thing. I don't even care anymore, you all can think what you wanna think...

Emo is a real genre, Emotional Rock. Just thought I'd let ya know bro

yeah I know that... it's the style I mean... dammit now were back inta this again!? lol
ok, I think I can explain what I mean better now... k? I was talking about the "EMO style" or whatever; I already know there is a music genra called emo.

people say like, pretty much everything is emo now days. MCR, Taking Back Sunday... believe it or not, people think SlipKnot is an emo band... none of these are by the way... compare the people in any band you think is "emo" with how people think "emo" people look. everyone says emo is someone who dresses in all black and has that same hairstyle with tight pants and thick rimmed glasses, and they always talk about depessing feelings... I've never heard 1 band so far under the genra (that everyone THINKS) "emo" that actually matches that description...
like I said, that's cuz no one actually knows what emo is, cuz people get it mixed up with a bunch of other shit... it's just a word that someone made up for a style. it's just made up, it's not a real word, unless you mean music genra (which people get mixed up all the time anyways).
I really can't find the right words to describe it, but you got a better idea of what I meant now?

P.S. someone told me to look up Emo in google, so I did. wanna know what I came up with? it said emo is a music genra (I got that part already) and then it said... A slang term discribing a specific style. Like I said, made up word...

P.S.S. emo isn't emotional rock... if it is, it doesn't mean "depressing music" like everyone thinks. it's pretty much just a genra with a punk-ish kinda sound to it... look it up in encyclopedia, cuz I don't feel like explaining it...
